In the mid-morning break Rem Wempen would often sit next me, it started with small talk about how he killed the weekend in London spending lots of time alone, then it built into how the previous 90 minutes looked to observers.
I used to sit directly behind his lawyer Simon Picken and he was terrific and accommodating and during the early days, he would accommodate us shareholders with extra chairs that were surplus to his own team.
On day one, they had every seat taken by the litigant's team probably around 16 and by the end of week one their numbers were down to no more than 6 so we moved the seating back for us shareholders and Simon Picken always chatted asking how we spent the evening/weekend.
Rex cut a lonely figure outside of meetings and briefings and he was staying in town on a budget unless he had the odd invite to somewhere like Chelsea FC.
TK loved swanning around in his 4 grand suits and pretty soon eye contact became frivolous chat like "What you eating today" my wife always did me a packed lunch because I would call into St Barts in the City each morning to see my really sick pal then I always left mid-afternoon to see my mother who permanently resided in the Barts Mile-End hospital.

He used to turn his nose up at my Ox tongue sandwiches during his regular lunchtime inspection of my sandwiches at the courthouse, I bet he'd like to get his hands on them now.
He must have served a fair bit of his time by now.
In a funny sort of way, I liked him and Rex Wempen on a personal level.
"According to HL, the amount they received was not what was expected so they had to do some chasing.
So fair play to them for still getting it out on the day"
Different to the answer I received after enquiring politely why the late payment.
I was advised to move my account.
