Avatar 2 could be 1.5 - 2bn on its own!
If you think LTH of CINE don't think bad news can happen then you haven't been here for long. We've had nothing but negative share movement even in positive times.
We're just hopeful that the worst (with regards to covid and reduced income) is over and that the court case award has little merit at the level it was awarded.
No one can deny there has been a massive recovery in cinema going, even if its not quite at levels it used to be in 2019. This seems to be due the movie slate though IMO. The next 6 month of movies could easily be another 4/5 billion in box office, maybe more.
For those who are interested the YTD comparison for last few years. I have been keeping an eye on these, the margin to 2019 is reducing every month.
2022 vs
2021 +353.1%
2020 +33.6%
2019 -42.4%
2018 -48%
2017 -44.5%
The business performance has increase 353% in a year, where has share price gone in that time We're close to 10% of precovid prices and there evidently as massive improvement in boxoffice figures. I appreciate the court case is on everyones minds but IMO the drop has been overdone.
Also, IMO, if a business can demonstrate profitability which CINE will soon be able to do, why would any creditor call in the debts when they can sit on their hands and see the cash rolling in?
Given Dr Strange's performance and the level of nostalgia associated to top gun I see it as realistic. Not to mention that the critics bloody love it.
Just reached $803,180,485, with some legs still left in it IMO.
Apologies if its been posted before, Cine chat can be so fast pace you miss stuff like this. Was interesting for me so thought I (re)post it.

As you've been on this board for a while you will have seen many posts expressing how cinema is recession proof. You only need to do a simple google search to get numerous news articles, web pages and even dissertation stating as much.
I respectfully disagree with your assertion
Dr Strange up to $552 and we still have this weekend. Given trends to date, could be a £1bn movie depending on how Maverick pinches audience.
Downtown was never a 'tentpole' IMO. The appeal of cinema still lives on.
Now $500m and we're only on Thursday in the first week of release. It's absolutely smashing it.
The Batman had made $672million, should cross $700million. That isn't bad given that, in my opinion, its much more niche than a Marvel film. It appeals to a lot less potential viewers.
All of these performing films are adding to the Cineworld coffers. We have Morbius next then Fantastic Beasts.
I think the article deals rumours, I deal in facts. The biggest fact is the great recover to cinema and decent upcoming film slate.
I genuinely can't believe anyone pays any attention to Motley Fool. The clue is in their name.
Insider, why even bother posting? Do you not have better things to do?
I'm sure you know this already as you appear very informed, but there is a proven link between negativity and poor health / reduced life span.
So many good films.
Provides a bit of confidence on the quality of our exec team.
There's no doubt a great line up of films this year. With Avatar 2 you've possibly got a £2billion of boxoffice on its own.
Don't be daft, the batman was never a golden goose. It's a DC film which are never as popular. Also, to be clear c.$600million when it's still in cinemas is good in anyone's money.
$510 million going into this weekend. Decent performance so far.

Surely the UT is the normal uncrossing trade (albeit massive). There was also £ 3million of other trades after hours.
