Their business plan as of June this year
plan adopted 2019-06-17 16:01
LKAB will become a stronger and broader company, which is the core of the new strategy that has now been adopted by the Board.
- We have developed an offensive strategy plan with major challenges in exploration, technology development but perhaps above all to continue to develop our most important resource: our employees, says Jan Moström, President and CEO.

LKAB will play an important role both as a supplier to the steel industry and to Sweden's industrial and regional development, and to make sustainable use of Sweden's iron ore resources in a sustainable way. To get there: To
be a safe workplace without accidents
Doubling mineral resources through exploration
Improve productivity by 40 - 50 percent
Have a business that does not generate any carbon dioxide emissions
Expand operations to areas where LKAB's core competencies can create value
This is to make LKAB a stronger, wider and more sustainable company with safe, efficient, profitable and carbon-free production that can handle fluctuations in the business cycle and market. High-quality production and climate-efficient products and a strong financial position are forces already in place.
- It will be a challenging job to achieve our strategic goals, but I am convinced that sooner or later we will get there, says Jan Moström.
The ability to adapt and adapt to changing external conditions and to new methods for mining at great depths will determine LKAB's future competitiveness and create the conditions for continuing to invest and extend the life of the existing operations in the Malm fields. Much energy will be spent on exploration to increase mineral resources. The iron ore business will be complemented by other activities, for example through ReeMAP, the extraction of phosphorus and rare earth metals from residual products.
"But it is also planned to take place through new acquisitions of companies."
Once the licence is awarded they will be after BEM like a rat up a drainpipe....
