Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg will hold opening ceremonies when the Nordic International International Trade Fair and Conference of the Mining Industry, Euro Mine Expo, will open on 12 June 2018 with delegates from more than 40 countries and exhibitors from 20 countries.
Previously, the Swedish government has highlighted the importance of mining for a shift towards a more sustainable society.
This year's Euro Mine Expo focuses on new business opportunities and future visions for the mining industry. Minister of Industry, Mikael Damberg holds the opening ceremony when the fair opens on 12 June. The Swedish government has previously pointed out the mining industry as an important nutrition in the transition to a sustainable and fossil-free society.
The importance of mining is based on the amount of unusual metals and minerals needed in solar cells and batteries, for example.
The Government Growth Analysis has worked on the government's mission to investigate which metals are needed for the production of technological and environmental innovations developed in Sweden.
"We are in the midst of a climate change that will require more electrification. Manufacturing of solar cells, wind turbines, batteries and electric cars will require more innovation-critical metals and minerals. Metals from mines with substandard working conditions or unnecessary environmental requirements can not be the basis of our climate technology. We must be better at making demands and, together with the market, create global standards for schysta minerals and metals. I hope that, together with the EU Commission and some of the most responsible companies, we can concretize the work forward, Minister for Industry and Innovation Mikael Damberg said in a high-level meeting on Sustainable Value Chain for Innovation Critical Commodities,
