Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Burwell may have a UKPN grid connection in place but its the National Grid that has to confirm when it can be connected and how much it will cost all the applications at National grid level (it's called a "statement of works". There is a 400mw development that is waiting approval (Sunica) that may affect the connection date.
The new landlord is Pigeon (Weirsdrove) Ltd who retained enough land for the Corcel project as well as enough space for Armtrac business to thrive (lease terms agreed and signed). Armtrac is already supporting a very large solar and ground source in burwell and looking forward to supporting all the new projects happening on site !
Check online but that is council land previously owned by Gerald Mason being used for various projects. Some reports previously may have "suggested" it's the parcel of land council and linked but that was inaccurate.
You need to have the landlords permission to apply for a grid connection and also you need to specify exactly the land you will use, whether that's a plot or a massive area which includes other parcels of land. Then it's just time and patience.
Very simple answer, Armtrac is the company that has owned the burwell land for 15 years. It is an incredible company full of very clever engineers who will start building battery solar and other projects on land in emerging markets they are working. They will be looking at changing the vehicles to batteries but they are also doing projects with the council such as building a ground source heat pump centre down the road and connecting solar sites to the grid but mainly there works have be about making lands safe internationally so that nature / trees agricultural projects can happen on safe lands. I can get a visit organised if you like and you see exactly where the battery will be installed. There's also another battery project half built around the corner you can see.
The reason why it's been quite is that a lot of inaccurate info was being presented about the state of affairs in Burwell. The Armtrac team has managed its way through Covid successfully thanks too outside support, that same support has in the meantime developed a separate number of projects. The planning on the building was done a year ago and a certificate of lawfulness for up to 50mw was issued by the planners and is on the planning portal. The property owner exchanged on the building in the first week of August with private investors who have bought the building. Providing Scott and James do exactly what they said they were the site, will be hugely successful and it won't have any implications on the Arlington JV sites.
The burwell battery plant (50mw) will definitely go ahead and be built at the Armtrac site. The first 20MW will start immediately in the buildings which already has planning and a lease from Wednesday next week and the additional 30mw will start shortly after that. There is no longer a problem with planning as it's all permitted. There is an additional 220mw of solar and other battery plants as well as hydrogen plants being built. Armtrac are booming with business and will be supporting the projects.
