Usually I’d say they simply can’t be compared due to the fact AMC blatantly isn’t being traded on its fundamentals and purely on the meme squeeze play. Having said that, I noticed earlier there is a very odd correlation that both have dumped significantly since the 6th July. Also look at both hourly charts and both have systemically dumped in a fairly perfect manner. Could just be a coincidence but to me it implies both are being algo traded downwards. Maybe to allow some shorts to finally close? Who knows…

I sold this and most other UK shares a month ago when it became obvious our government were going to continue their business destroying policies, and yet another lock down likely to happen in Autumn. Glad I did or would have lost quite a chunk of my profits.

If I needed investment advice about CINE, it certainly wouldn’t be from BagsOnTopOfBags. His/her post history is a complete deramping car crash, no effort at all trying to hide it! Lol

You’re thinking about this completely from your own perspective, for a lot of the more cautious cinema goers any lifting of restrictions would be incredibly bad news and will stop them from attending in the future. This is from my own bit of research speaking to a number of Cineworld regulars who would be considered ‘vulnerable’.

Cinema goers aren’t always renowned to be your fit and healthy types, indoor restrictions shouldn’t necessarily be considered a bad thing right now when sharing a room with complete strangers for a couple of hours. Lifting them would instantly lose a decent number of paying patrons.

I couldn't agree more Bonkers. Unfortunately Cineworld do seem rather lapse in terms of releasing this sort of information. Not sure whether it's them being cautious being in fear of the governmental rules changing or just a general lack of communication/thought.

The obvious solution moving forward (not just with Cineworld) is having certain allocated mask/maskless showings for the day so folks have the option with whichever they feel more comfortable with. Might be a bit of a nightmare to organise logistically but it'd certainly encourage the folks who are more concerned by it. Chatting to a couple of friends over the weekend who are ardent cinema-goers but immunocompromised, they desperately want to see upcoming films but they just won't risk it if others aren't wearing masks.

There has to be room for some sort of compromise moving forward and that can only benefit Cineworld longer term.
