"I would assume that you are on the "those people" that have broken the strike. Each to their own, i suppose.
How about the erosion of future agreements. Thompson keeps banging the drum about how much more we are paid, than other couriers. If we roll over and die, then any future pay discussions, would not exist. We wouldn't get any rise.
Paid meal reliefs? Something else that will be take away. On spec working, just like amazon. The gig economy! Our current decimated pension? Stripped as bare as it could be, then falling in line with the government minimum.
I don't have young kids, but i do have child minding requirements. And even if I didn't, I quite like starting and finishing earlier than most of the normal jobs.
How much shiite should I eat before I'm forced out of a job that I like doing?"
That's all well and good but where does the CWU draw the line and eventually accept an offer, just before the strike collapses and, like the last strike, finish up accepting less than was originally offered? Whatever is agreed RM will keep on chipping away at the benefits, that was always going to be the case once the company was privatised and had shareholders demanding changes. What are you planning on doing striking every year costing you £2000+ in loss of wages to save £1000 in loss of allowances etc?
