As far as GLS given they are purchased after privatisation the USO surely can't apply, AS must be incorrect.

RE RM & GLS just to confuse matters RM PLC was previously the holding company of RM & GLS not RM,now IDS are the holding co for RM & GLS. Clearly RM & GLS were split for some reason if they are still both bound by the USO what was the point in splitting them.

As far as the USO just because they are telling RM it won;t be reduced doesn't mean if they do go into Admin they won't then decide differently, we all know how good this Government is at changing it's mind when it suits them, regardless if the USO does send RM into Admin will the Government really insist it remains 6 days a week when even Joe Public doesn't want it.

GLS is now owned by IDS, formally Royal Mail PLC is that the same as being owned by the firmer public company Royal Mail ?

Why would a Tory government want to re-nationalise Royal Mail, more than likely they'd want it sold on to the highest bidder PDQ even if that meant reducing the USO to 5 days, or even less for some outlying regions, a week. Although they are probably putting some pressure in the background on IDS to now agree a deal.

Whilst DW talks the talk it's interesting he's only now threatening to announce further strike dates whereas in the past they've just been announced. What's the betting early this week DW claims the threat has worked and announces that a pay deal of some kind has been agreed.

But is the £1.7b credit facility still available in the wake of the latest banking crisis or has that been pulled and the banks are now asking when RM are going to stop racking up £1m+ a day losses, plus doesn't RM have to re-finance it's debts shortly? If they do then this article maybe of concern with one small business owner quoted a 15% (ouch!) interest rate by his bank.

Given approximately half your post is hand sorted what other system could be brought in? The best solution is to contact everybody of any importance and get them to change your address on their records, then it's only junk type mail which may not be re-directed due to human error.

I assume you realise it's just a case of a postie manually redirecting your mail, it's not some fantastic computer program doing it, if for whatever reason they forget to do it one day then you'll get mail delivered to your former address.

Not sure whether the CWU Postal Exec meeting tomorrow was a pre-arranged meeting, if it wasn't then it's not clear why they are meeting.

If my DO is anything to go buy any new starter leaves after a couple of years when they realise what's expected of them and they can get better pay elsewhere.

Most posties who do leave seem to manage OK in their new jobs and it's very rare one ever returns to being a postie? Regardless if all the CWU members took your advice and left how are RM going to replace them when they struggle to replace even one member of staff leaving?

No signs of RM publishing an agreed statement, or any signs from them they want to get the deal done? Let's hope RM are not just playing for time.

I sense the best thing for all concerned is the sides thrashed out an agreement PDQ , whether it's now in the CWU's favour to do that is debatable as I sense they've got the Board just where they want them, squirming!

What planet do you lot live on, it was an absolute shocker from ST, didn't you watch the MP's final comments about "humanity". I'll await the PC's report with interest, as it's pretty clear they are concerned RM are prioritising parcels over letters and have no interest in the USO.

It just shows what damage the Revisions etc are doing, anybody with any sense would have agreed a pay deal then brought in the Revisions etc once the threat of strike action had passed.

I sense even DK will want to take RM's 100,000 employees with him!

There seems zero chance of the strike being settled anytime soon, unless ST falls on his sword rather than re-appear in from of the Parliamentary Committee

Whilst the Labour MP's may not be happy with how RM is being run (I sense they're probably obsessed with the idea of it being re-nationalised) what can they actually do when you are a private company?
