Greatland Resources’ Havieron deposit would pay itself off within five years at a gold price of $4,500 per ounce, the Forrest-backed producer has revealed, with management bullish on the long-term potential of the Telfer hub.

The long-awaited Havieron feasibility study was released to market this morning, mapping a path for the deposit to enter production through the existing Telfer goldmine at a pre-production cost just over $1 billion.

Greatland expects to fully fund the project from a mix of its $750 million bank balance, ongoing cashflow from the Telfer mine and a $500 million debt commitment from a lending syndicate of ANZ, HSBC, ING, NAB and Westpac.

The project has a net-present value of $4.2 billion pre-tax and $2.9 billion post-tax at the base case metal pricing used in the DFS - $4,500/oz for gold and $15,747 per tonne of copper.

At the current gold spot price of $6,250/oz, the project’s pre-tax value balloons to $7.9 billion.

Greatland’s numbers show the project has a post-tax internal rate of return of 22.5 per cent at the conservative gold price estimate – a rate which would see the project pay itself off within five years.

Greatland Resources has released the Feasibility Study for its Havieron Project, outlining a long-life, high-margin asset with strong cash generation. The study shows steady-state annual output of 266koz gold and 9.6kt copper, delivering A$739 million in pre-tax free cash flow (or A$1.197 billion at spot prices) at an AISC of A$1,610/oz.

The project’s Ore Reserve now stands at 38.5Mt, containing 3.3Moz gold and 128kt copper. Pre-production capex of A$1.065 billion is expected to be fully funded via the company’s A$750 million cash balance, Telfer cash flow, and a A$500 million debt facility.

Base-case economics include a A$2.9 billion post-tax NPV5% and 22.5% IRR, rising to A$5.4 billion NPV and 31.5% IRR at spot prices. The study also highlights potential cost savings via co-processing at Telfer if mine life is extended, while more than 3Moz of additional resources sit outside the current plan, offering meaningful future upside.

Beat me to it! A classic alternative agenda post, which we've seen here for years, and sticks out like a sore thumb. They should be embarrassed for being so obvious!

Just following what Paddy wrote below, this is also what Shaun Day stated in his interview on 'Monday Upbeat' earlier this month...

"Oh, look, there's two really significant opportunities for us in that exploration. - I think firstly in the Open Pit, that big Stage Two Extension. We've already added a couple of years to Telfer Open Pit mine life with Stage Seven cutback. But that Stage Two Extension is a really large volume. As we drill out that and become more confident on it, I think there's great opportunity there. And in the underground, that West Dome Underground, it's a whole new quartile to that mine. You've got the above Open Pit Main Dome and West Dome Main Dome. Now you add to that the West Dome Underground - We think the size of that prize is really significant. We're very early in the drilling there.

Again, we need a lot of work to really demonstrate the potential, but we couldn't be off to a better start. The strike length, the widths encountered, and of course some of the highest grades you've seen, average grades you've seen since 2005. @ Ntl101 It's not just forbidden to publish misleading information, it's also potentially actionable, and a company can sue an individual or entity for defamation and/or malicious falsehood, especially when presented as a fact.

Hedley Widdup, CEO of ASX fund Lion Selection Group (ASX:LSX), has called the start of a new mining boom, pushing his famous mining clock through six o’clock.

And he’s backing gold juniors to deliver the best returns in the early throes of the cycle, as liquidity returns to the market in a big way.

The change was first featured in the firm’s Tuesday quarter report, with Widdup expanding on the decision at their AGM on Thursday to move the dial after a bust that saw major miners drop 25-50% from their Covid highs and micro-caps tank as much as 75% or more.

Led by rising demand and tight supply for a number of metals, Widdup thinks this boom will be ‘more aggressive’ than the pre-Covid run which sent BHP (ASX:BHP) and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) to record highs.

That means smaller players in areas like gold and critical minerals could be better placed to ride the cycle higher.

“Rather than the boom which lifted BHP and Rio by modest amounts in the sort of 2016 to 2020-2021 era, I think we can expect a much, much more aggressive cycle. And that may very well benefit juniors more than the majors,” Widdup told investors in Melbourne.

“If you’re extremely leveraged to iron ore and coal, you’re probably not going to be capturing the opportunity that’s available in critical metals, or even what’s likely to happen in gold.”...

Just a quick note - I notice that several posts refer to the next Telfer Mineral Resource Estimate update, and mention March 2026. Just for clarification it's planned for the March 2026 quarter, so anytime from the 1st January - 31st March 2026. Likewise, the WDU maiden Mineral Resource Estimate is also targeted for the March 2026 quarter, so the same applies.

Of course I'm not saying that they won't drop in March, just that they could drop anytime from 1st January to the end of March. However, generally, as we know, the more drilling, the better the resource.

Difficult to say, since, as I've said before, if there were negotiations ongoing with any international agencies, they would be confidential. However, Shaun did say, some time ago, in relation to O'Callaghan's, "... I've reached out to the US Government about what they'd like to do..."

My gut feeling is that maybe initial, informal chats, but that's pure speculation on my part. Maybe we'll learn some more over the next few weeks...
