I don't know about Teeside yet on Teesside there are no rail links to the mine. I would suggest getting the X93 bus (to Whitby & Scarborough) from Middlesbrough bus station ( lots of parking nearby) and there are only 2 stops before reaching Whitby. During this journey once you have left Guisborough, and make sure you are on the upper deck of the bus, the Lockwood Beck section, 10 minutes from Guisborough, is only a few hundred metres from the road. The journey time to Whitby is approximately 50 minutes and the scenery is stunning. If you decide to hop off at Whitby, a gem of a place, the X93 runs every hour (winter timetable). From Whitby to Scarborough after 15 minute the site can be seen in the distance. During the first 20 minutes to Scarborough the scenery is even more spectacular passing through Hawsker village, Robinhoods Bay, Fyling Thorpe etc. Enjoy.
