The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
"Diversified Energy Company PLC (LSE:DEC) today notes the recent decline in its share price and confirms it is unaware of any operational or Company specific reason for this share price movement". You could argue they might know of a non company reason for the decline and didn't rule that out. I can't imagine recent drop in oil price is the reason either. But they could have just said 'any reason' instead of qualifying it which leaves the door ajar.
Maybe it's a massive poop and scoop. Big shorts followed by picking up cheap shares win win ??
Yes no response
Anyone buying share at the moment will be receiving around a 20% Dividend. I can't see that being sustained. I still believe if they cut the dividend and use it to lay off debt this will have a positive effect of making DEC cash comfortable. Those who bought in at a higher price will suffer and perhaps institutional Investors. But it looks like the stock is being shorted hard and they need to fight back.
just wondering if there is some sort of poop and scoop going on here. i've googled and nothing except this.

Needs to explain quickly the volatility in the SP
A good financial update rns took the price to 96p and now we are nearly 20p south of that. Cashflow is good and income. The should cut the dividend though as every time I see a dividend paid I see the same amount knocked off the company share price. Unless the city thinks the Divinis wiping out its profits and has nothing to reinvest then I don't understand the SP behaviour of late.
I received my dividend today but it was 30% less than I though and was subsequently told I have to pay US tax. However I use more than one platform to buy shares and it's only happened with Iweb. I completed a w8-bn form as well. Any thoughts?
Sorry I meant hedging of oil price.
Just reading the rns again. I'm wondering if their heading of the oil price is working against them now oil is $97 a barrell today. Maybe it's been built into the mm algorithm I'm not sure but any thought welcome on why DEC doesn't track the other oilies increase in SP when oil price increases/decreases.
Thanks much appreciated. I have seen the sp oscillate over time but I think your right after that dilution we are in another oscillating territory but just need it to go north for a bit 👍
Hi, I've had these shares for well over a year and have seen them go from nearly 130p to where they are now. Is it lack of investor confidence in oil generally, or management, or something else. Given all the good news announcements and share buybacks I'm struggling to see why the so continues to fall unless there is some shorting taking place-any thoughts?
This is my first post and wondered if anyone can help as I'm sure it's been raised. I had a fair bit of evraz stock which I disposed of after the share price was adjusted down for the divestment of their coal division. Then I fould out they decided not to divest after the shares were suspended. Does anyone think there is a case for compensation? How would you go about it?
