The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode with London Stock Exchange Group's Chris Mayo has just been released. Listen here.
As a long term sufferer, I don't wish to be a party pooper, but if this goes to form, we've had the rise now we'll have the slow drip downwards to below where the excitement started. Hope I'm wrong.
Molokai - my thoughts, exactly ... Just the the other day, given the prospect of a Lab or Lab/Lib government next year, I was thinking of selling my stake in EDR. So I suppose beggars can't be choosers, I'll take the hit, but at least it's not such a bad hit. What's the chance of anyone else making a higher bid? Ok, stop laughing.
Hi DyamFoolMan, thanks for the info from the Telegraph.
Thanks for that Singhie.
Lol, as usual, ANGS routine ... a bit of good news, price shoots up, then spends the rest of the day retracing back down ... in the meantime, I see there's a headline in the Telegraph today: 'Every British household to spend nearly £6000 on foreign gas by 2035'. It's behind a paywall so I can't read it, is it of interest to gas and/or shale investors?
Hold on to your hats. Weekend tomorrow and guess what, something happening to a bank. Deutsche swaps are going crazy. When the **** hits the fan, I wouldn't have thought this would affect ANGS, anyone any thoughts?
Probably the algorithm should just display the price and not bother allocating a Buy or Sell, seems a bit pointless. Thanks for that J-A-B.
I must admit, I have become sceptical about the 'buy' and 'sell' notices in the Share Trades section. Only recently I have done two sells on other companies which have shown up as buys. Anyone have any ideas why this would occur?
My morning routine of late: Trepidation - Click on LSE - Check Top Risers, no ANGS, damn - Click on Top Fallers, no ANGS, phew - Click on View More Fallers, no ANGS, phew, fingers crossed - Click on Share Risers, no ANGS, damn - Input ANGS into Share Price Search - No RNS - Relax
MassiveRay, well done, that did make me lol!
Possibly something to do with this, but it's way over my head:

Alessandro, yes, I have often wondered what the point of 'house stock' is, so seeing your message I thought it was time to 'google'. One description I have found is : 'A house stock is a stock that the management of a brokerage firm or boiler room has instructed all its brokers to promote. The brokerage firm or its owners might be receiving an undisclosed profit from the sale of the house stock'. If anyone has anything else to add it would be of interest.
Must admit I have been aghast at the political leadership in both the US and UK over the past 20 years or so. The political class are basically a bunch of self serving, egomaniac, useless non-entities. Han****, today, sums it all up. The UK desperately needs to become energy self-sufficient to stave off the possibility of blackouts and to safeguard the pound. This means exploiting every possible avenue of energy exploitation, be it wind, solar, fracking, North Sea, or whatever. Yes, wind and solar, not for climate change reasons but to maximise the diversification of energy sources. The reason for my rant is not just Han**** but this (especially the section where the UN Secretary General calls any new funding for [fossil fuel] exploration "delusional" - he should be sacked straight away):

[Fingers crossed emoji] :)
I agree with you, unhooked, I think the price drop is "more to do with folk using their holding as an atm", there's a lot of action going on elsewhere at the moment. As Hotfinance14 says, hope the company is not sold off cheap.

The last sentence in the above is: "It is still too soon to say whether the UK shale industry can finally get off the ground, football might just come home first."
If the war in Ukraine continues into next year; if the pound continues to decline against the dollar; if the lights go out this winter; if it's a really cold winter; if the country decides we have to be energy independent .... I know that's a lot of 'ifs' but I think there's more chance of shale getting off the ground than football coming home :)
Very sad about her majesty. What a lady!
"This can only be a good thing for the likes of Angus. He is strong believer in our type of energy and wants to develop much more of it at home."
I hope so, Fantasticdave. Today has been a disappointment: ANGS appearing loads of times on the CNBC news ticker, showing the price going down; then watched PMQs and Truss only emphasized North Sea oil & gas, no mention of the mainland. Fingers crossed the Mogg will pull something out of the hat, though not holding my breath.
Here's a scenario for your imagination: Truss really does decide to tackle the energy crisis, this includes permitting wholesale fracking across the UK. The Green lobby and local residents (in areas where the fracking will take place) howl their indignation. Within a couple of months or weeks, Truss realises she has no option but to go the country for a mandate to implement a policy of national energy independence. A snap election is called. Which way will the (by then) freezing electorate, who could also be facing another major crisis of a collapsing pound, choose to go?
