Don't forget its the Norwegian Cruise Lines Q2 Earnings update this afternoon. This could create some share price volatility.
There is an earnings call at 3pm too - hopefully it will be positive like Royal Carribean a few weeks ago.
@emeraldcarrots, I know the continued rise is exciting for you...but we can see the percentage rise in the price. Let's keep the posts for discussion :-)
@Ken agree, many variables in play this year - including the quarantine cabins/capacity restrictions etc. Capacity will increase again as new, bigger ships enter. Hence my view that a better comparison is going to be 2023 wich fingers crossed should be a more 'normal' year.
@Pianista, 3m guests on Carnival brand only - so you're comparing apples and oranges - the actual figure will be higher. once you have added in the other 8 brands. Also don't forget the main restart for many ships has been in the last few months. I expect these numbers will be much higher by the end of the year. Much better would be a forecast for guest numbers in 2023 IMO
Possibly the shorts closing - filling up the buy orders. Notification of short closures will usually be a bit delayed.
Agree; anyway I'd rather they use profits to pay down debt rather than dividends.
Maybe the shorted stock has been offloaded now. Nice little tick up, let's hope it continues!
Botbot, in my view you are comparing apples with oranges here. It is important to look at the fundamentals and make your mind up. Past, present and future. Personally, I saw the demise of DEB - there wasn't the demand - stores were full of tat that no-one wanted to buy at knock down prices. The ships are getting fuller; the company is actively re-organising the fleet. There are penty of positives in the trading update. BTW, if you are so pessimistic and sold your shareholding, why have you recommended as a strong buy? PS..I hope you are a real person and not a botbot!
There you have it - the business update is what I was referring to. The half yearly report is the presumably the detailed accounts. I always look on the Carnival Corporation website. I will base my decisions on that, the earnings call and the half yearly report. Personally I'm not bothered about the broker note - it's their opinion and I choose to disagree. As many have said, it's not the first time MS have set zero targets for worst case scenarios. This dirt should be banned, or maybe shorting by these xxx should be.
Thank you HBLU for stating the obvious LOL! make your own minds up people - as a minimum make sure you look at and understand the contents of the trading update! Good luck all
noggers, look at the Live RNS tab here on LSE - the trading update is there. It is also on the Carnival Corporation offical website and other news channels. Dated Friday 24th June. The Morgan Stanley report is merely that particular Broker's opinion of things, NOT a trading update. These are basics of investing; if you do not understand these, then you should not be investing.
Noggers, we were not duped. The trading update was last Friday, with an accompanying earnings call by the company.
@Pianista, you clearly haven't been on a cruise recently (maybe not at all...). I have been on and I can confirmit was indeed relaxing. Much better than the stress of airports at the moment. Their comment was more around the fact that cruise lines are being treated unfavourably compared to others I think.
@Lovelace is this in the T and Cs? I knew they could charge but hadn't seen an amount.
Buck555 red dress on p&o? Tell me more...or I don't believe you! Red is Cunard not p&o! They wear orange in the kids clubs by the way.
Sounds like you have never been on a cruise buck555. There was a diversity of ages on a recent cruise I went on. I'm not old either.
He's not going anywhere, just been promoted to Vice Chairman of the Board.
Agree, there are some Baltic cruises but not many. Seems a bit of market over reaction. Don't forget the oil price could have some impact on costs too.
Hi,
I can't see any specific comparisons, however it feels like future prospects matter more......there will have been significant costs in restarting the ships.
Would be interesting to see what was anticipated - please share if any interesting/substantial links.
Thanks
@Kenswayken how do you conclude the 'falling short of expectations' piece?
