Low molecular weight linear polyitaconic acid partially neutralized with sodium salt. Acts as a dispersant. It is 100% bio-based. Possesses excellent environmental profile. It demonstrates good binding capacity with metal ions, particularly polycationic ions, and especially with calcium. Has good hydrolytic, chlorine and thermal stability. Offers high binding capacity with calcium (0.86 g of CaCl2/g of polymer at pH=10.7, 25°C). Provides ignificantly higher binding capacity than polyacrylic acid, polyaspartic acid, citric acid, ethylene diamine tetra acetate and trisodiumphosphate. Exhibits very high binding constant to calcium at pH greater than 10. Used as a builder in detergents, chelant, stabilizer, dispersant, soil anti-redeposition.
