The penpushers will keep working. But if as a Minister you could be out of a job in 3 weeks, or moving sideways or backwards why bother making any announcements and then having to justify them to the media circus. Better just to leave it to your successor once they've bedded in.

Burnham has been out of the politics game for years, needs time to be fully briefed and won't be able to hit the ground running. Couldn't even answer a journo the other day on the fiscal rules. So he won't be rushed into making flip flop decisions.

The political uncertainties, just like any purdah, will put the brakes on announcements because first, as a minister you don't know if you will have the same job in 3 weeks time, and second nobody knows yet what Burnhams priorities will be as PM.

Markets hate the uncertainty and that breeds the volatility. Give it 3 weeks then Burnhams priorities and his cabinet might be clearer.

Then it's into Parliaments summer recess. Naff timing.

The sector is being decimated at the minute and it's a bloodbath out there.

Many less volatile and profitable companies to try your hand at and fall back on until any FID emerges.

Last time it dropped from 90 to 60 it trundled along around 60 for about 4 months.

I applaud your assessment but is it not better to actually wait to see things starting to turnaround and let all this new money settle into the market. Maybe buy after the 3rd one if improving.

But with DT his unpredictability means you normally never get what you expect. Apparently he's addressing the nation tonight and that could mean a tactical withdrawal which in my eyes would be a chickening out, course it would be a victory. Or just as equally he could announce the start of ground operations. Hence I wouldn't bet the house on it.

Checked and it's just Dubai, although disruption elsewhere in the region.

I thought it a bit more impactive than just Dubai. I thought it was all flights suspended to the Middle East until summer. That's more that a few pence off the share price.

It's not just the flight suspensions, as fuel costs are through the roof and it won't be helping the next few updates.

It's not just ongoing fuel price volatility that will affect Leisure sector shares but this conflict will have an affect on sentiment.
