so from here, where do you see the SP going, say 6-12 month? is there a bid coming? is it all hot air and SP will retrace to lower lows? is it going bust? whats your opinion?

the shorts, id challenge, “creeping up fast”

- enhalus havent increased at all in over a month

- d e shaw added a big chunk to the overall short % but the reality is they only increased marginally which pushed them over the reporting threshold

- SIH apparantly cant make thier mind up, they up it then lower it all the time, but are actually lower than they were just a month ago

- qube have been increasing very slowly this year, one to watch maybe.

i wouldnt say this was an overall “fast” creep up in shorts and certainly not what i would expect to see if they believed a profit warning was coming. and half of those reporting are lower today then they were just last month

i dont think the next update will be anything miraculous, probably within guidance imo

NOWHERE, only AFTER the rise to 440 had levelled off did you say 300’s again. why would anybody listen to you when youre only posts are doom? im not saying negative posts arent allowed, im not even fully bullish on this, but for gods sake man…..

Which shops? what brands? what sectors?

38 shops per day closing only tells me 1 thing. that 38 shops per day are closing.

is that your “big picture”?

did those shops get intergrated into other shops within the same company? like H&M

were they reletively small amounts? (like 7) but do better overseas (like H&M)

were they bought out, closed down, and reopened in larger chains? (like game in frasers) etc

were they small independant shops unable/unwilling to adapt?

were they owned or leased?

was online more profitable so they closed and now do much better online (like debs - which we now know is)

SO many variables and unknows.

if your idea of a bigger picture is simply “38 shops closing per day” i feel youre missing so much

Blimey….pre-xmas sales dissapoint so we’re shutting all of our stores….you buy that? really?

sales must have been declining to a point of no viability for them, keep stores open until xmas and see if we get an uptick, didnt happen so we shut. the point here is it must have been a looming event not a reactive one to a few measly weeks at the end of the year. big believer in correlation =/= causation.

and if retail has been so bad, do we really think of ALL retailers, Debenhams, an arm of BooHoo - one of the biggest failures of recent years, could spin a profit out.

i stand by this being a rental issue not a retail issue, they are spinning the stores into another of thier brands stores. if they were collapsing because of sales they would just discontinue that brand. ill give you sales being down - they are across the board, the problem is profit, which either means something fundamentally is wrong with them, or thier overheads
