Forthcoming return of capital (38p)21 Jun 2024 08:44
The RNS on 17 June stated
“ abrdn Diversified Income and Growth plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce further details of its proposals to return approximately £115 million in aggregate (representing approximately 38 pence per Ordinary Share) to Shareholders by way of an Initial Return of Capital pursuant to a bonus issue”
Given an SP around 82p and a NAV around 107, that’s a 23% discount currently. After they’ve returned the 38p, if the SP and NAV both reduce by 38 then they’ll be 44 and 69 respectively which would mean a discount of 36%.
I think and hope that the discount would revert to closer to 23% which would mean, if my maths is correct, an SP around 53.
What do others think? Have I been too simplistic or am I staring at a bargain?!
