Mister Chairman, the Government took a decision to facilitate the development of a maximum of 100MW CBM Fuelled Pilot Power Plants in Botswana through Independent Power Producers (IPP), at IPP’s risk and cost. Requests for Proposals were issued to two firms - Sekaname (Pty) Ltd and Tlou Energy, to develop up to 100MW (combined) of CBM-fuelled power generation capacity at their own risk, with Government only guaranteeing an off-take. Due to the complexity of the project and being the first of its kind in Botswana, the Ministry is engaging Transactional Advisors (TA) from African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) to assist the Government to negotiate the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Negotiations are scheduled to start by March 2020. In addition, the TA will capacitate the Government negotiation team members and prepare toolkits for the CBM and
