How are pumpjacks powered?

Pumpjacks are typically gas or electricity powered. Energy usage is dependent on how modern and efficient the pumpjack is and its capacity.

Larger pumpjacks can remove up to 5 barrels of oil per minute from the ground but it depends on a number of factors including the number of strokes per minute, the amount of fluid in the pump bore, the percentage of oil in the extracted liquid and the size of the pumpjack itself.

I suggest you look at your knowledge, picked up from bulletin boards and years sat outside Horsehill in your camper and his, someone who has been involved in the oil industry in this country and internationally, namely Canada and other countries. Of course, him saying this could be misleading or even lying, but I feel he is what he says and has done what he says. No doubt when the upgrades are concluded we may get some pictures or conformation of this.

Pboo, an upgrade will entail a larger pump-jack, permanent power supply etc. They are likely running on propane or a diesel generator and that would not be representative of permanent production facilities. The present pump-jack is likely one drafted in to commence testing and as to whether another, larger unit will be required will surely depend on the flow rate. I think I would rely on Grey Panthers experience in these matter than yours if I was honest as he actually has real experience in the oil industry.
