I like your philosophy... very similar to my own. The reason I'm not up on the financial side of things is simply that as an independent consultant I charge purely for my time - and I only employ... me! So I've never had to bother putting together a business plan or meddle with balance sheets / cashflow etc. - not since uni, anyway. I also agree with your 3/5 year timescale - that's pretty much what my investments are based on - and I don't have massive aspirations either... over the last couple of years I have managed to put away a reasonable sized lump of cash which, having watched both my IBM and personal pension plans slowly go down the plug hole in the hands of the so-called experts, I thought I could probably do a better job of looking after myself. That still remains to be seen, of course, but these are interesting times we live in - certainly as the world eventually makes its way out of recession I hope that some of the shares I've bought over the last six months will look to have been very cheap (hopefully VERY cheap). I tend to stick with eco / tech / green stocks - that either provide a product or service which (and this is a fundamental for me) I can actually understand... I'm off on hols for two weeks on Saturday - so my brother will be keeping an eye on things for me. The only real thing in my portfolio that I'm remotely concerned about (and by that I mean there may be potential for it to move) is some big announcement over OPE... Will be in to

On another point I'd like to chat to you about sync at some point - looks like an interesting product. I work for myself in IT (IBM for 5 years, 10 years for myself) and have the facilities and wherewithal to both setup and test the software for myself - just don't have the time at the moment ) - it'll have to wait 'til next year. I'm not so strong on the financials though - as you certainly appear to be - perhaps we can help each other out? Interesting looking stock, anyway.

Need more time to digest the patent info, but at first glance it appears to be both european and (!) worldwide (it's been a while since I looked at anything like that - and I'm tired and have had a couple of beers)... but is it for specific products, or the generic technology - and how watertight is it? Thanks for pointing that out - nice to see SNT and BGBL both being tipped - I hold both and will continue to do so - both very green and eco tech. SNT in particular could be a ticking time bomb, they've got some BIG names on their books and only about 6 million of 30 odd million shares in public hands. Pretty encouraging stuff.

My sisters 'SHE' magazine (I think it was) said that CARGO will soon be selling their Lip Gloss with the integrated Timestrip in a major UK retail outlet very soon (currently only available in US/Canada). Will post further details when I have clarification (have emailed CARGO about this too). With regards to cost per unit - to a manufacturer/supplier - I don't have specific figures but you can indeed buy them from the website at a cost to the consumer of about 10p each (I personally don't think they'll make any cash selling this way). When you consider the economies of scale that a large order from a manufacturer would receive I think we're literally talking a few pennies if that per unit. However, in the current economic climate when manufacturers are trying to cut costs on packaging that could be significant - unless of course the Timestrip significantly enhances the product - and more crucially - boosts the products sales, which is (potentially) where CARGO is such a good example.

Most of the women I've been speaking to say it's more mascara than anything, but they're all vaguely aware that you're not supposed to use it for ever, even if some of them do. We'll just have to wait and see if CARGO decide to integrate the Timestrip product into more of their product lines. Winning the awards can only be a good thing. I actually tried to buy one of the Timestrip lip glosses online today (yes, I know no shame in the interest of investment research) to see what friends thought of it - but you can't buy outside the states/canada. Outrageous - someone should start a campaign in Best or Bella or whatever...! The good women of this country should not be discriminated against. On a more serious note I actually did buy some of the Timestrip fridge, freezer and pantry range from the website (3 products) and they all work well. I don't think they'll be a massive hit in themselves - it's where the product is integrated into things that this will come good. Recently there's been a drive towards reducing packaging costs (I was speaking to my mum yesterday and even she noticed that in Sainbury's the other day they had two identical products next to each other - tomato paste - one boxed and one unboxed). Why do you need the box? This would not normally be good news for TIME, but if increasing the cost of your packaging by a small amount actually increases sales (which the lip gloss is - potentially - a good example of) then it's party time. Couldn't agree more. Once they find their niche (or niches!) then these could fly. Just needs someone to find a killer application of the technology - hopefully in the medical sector, but I'll be equally happy with transport, cosmetics, food, consumables - take your pick!

This has obviously been in force for a while now - anyone any idea on how far this is / has been implemented? http://www.dweckdata.com/PIP/PAO_Consumer_Leaflet.pdf I spoke to my GP friend regarding the cosmetic side of things causing infections - he seems to think it unlikely, unfortunately(!) - but that doesn't mean that there isn't a widely held perception that this is the case. Anyway, as I've said it's not why I bought in in the first place - I'm more interested in the potential medical applications. The cosmetics side is a nice 'extra' as far as I'm concerned.
