I know what you mean. Perhaps there is a higher level of private investors (well-to-do employees etc, and aviation sometimes seen as a 'sexy' industry to be in) that magnify market sentiments by selling/buying at a greater rate than normal on a stock of such size.
Otherwise we'll just have to blame the usual culprits...

So apart from what it said in the RNS, what do we think this money is needed for? Perhaps looking for a bargain investment in the sector?

"The group’s spokesman Paul Charles said: “We’ve received private assurances from senior government sources that travel corridors will be in place from 29th June.

“We urge the government to signal to the travel industry publicly and urgently that this is the case, as well as amend FCO advice on non-essential travel.

“We are still considering our options regarding legal action, including whether to join BA’s claim, but would prefer that 29th June is confirmed for the start of travel corridors.”

Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Australia are believed to be frontrunners for “travel corridors” which would allow holidaymakers and business people to go to and from the countries without having to self-isolate for 14 days.

Confirmation could come this week after the Cabinet meets today (Tuesday).

It is likely to be allied to a lifting of the Foreign Office ban on non-essential travel to “low risk” countries after the advice was marginally amended yesterday.

A government source told The Telegraph: “It is fair to say things are moving at pace.”

Short term the cash will help, certainly, but at the same time taking out £3m per year from the accounts, for £8.5m by the end of the year.

The Company has been notified that as part of this transaction:
· a total cash consideration of £10 million is payable by the Eddie Stobart Group trading entity, Eddie Stobart Limited, of which £4 million is deferred (with £2.5 million payable in December 2020 and the remaining £1.5 million within 36 months), and will be funded from existing cash; and
· Stobart Group Limited is required to change its name by 28 February 2021.

Prior to acquiring the Eddie Stobart brand, the Eddie Stobart Group used the brand under a 2014 licence agreement and an annual fee of £3 million had become payable from 1 March 2020. This licence arrangement has now been terminated resulting in a cost saving for the Eddie Stobart Group of £3 million per annum. The acquisition of the brand will help stakeholders more easily to differentiate between the Eddie Stobart Group's logistics business and the Stobart Group's aviation and energy businesses, as the Stobart Group will transition to a different name.

Was this money needed to cover the Connect Airways 'charges' issue.
I wonder what the new name will be.
Also, I wonder whether it might be more economically expedient to sell certain assets, rather than pay for a re-branding exercise on them?

After today, the airport (AFS & ATC) are only closed for 3 hours in the evening, compared with 5 hours in the evening since COVID started. Small steps...

I am not quibbling about the yet to published figures, but rather your assertation that they are the worst in the country. This is palpably impossible for you to prove, as there is no complete set of figures for all airports published anywhere, and certainly not current up to February 2020, and yet you state it as a fact for whatever reason.

Good for you. I'm sure you had great fun going through the convolutions of the websites of every single passenger airport in England (UK?) to make your comprehensive assessment on which you based your statement. Many do not publish the noise complaint data so that it is accessible to the public, certainly not up to Feb 2020! Neither has Southend or Stobart yet.

Perhaps looking at the COVID-19 situation could have more simply answered your fascination about the sudden drop!!

Defensive? Maybe. I recognise agenda's when I see them. The nast majority of the population are in favour of the airport and it's operations, always have been.
So how have you compared it with the noise complaints of every other airport in the country in order to be able to make your categorical statement: 'Southend airport is now the most complained about airport per 1000 passengers in the country'?.
