Above both the 50 and 100 MAs on the 4h chart. This is a positive. Moving and holding above 1.9 could be fuel for the next leg higher. If it pushes for that level and fails, then there's a risk of further downside.

...It does not reflect how the incoming Labour govt has made a manifesto pledge to purchase c1,000 new CT and MRI machines. If only 5% of that goes the way of POLX, a UK co. with the world's most cutting-edge scanner tech for respiratory disease (while lung cancer is the biggest killer of all tumours) then that's 50 new machines going to the NHS. With FDA approval already in the bag, it shouldn't be hard to get UK regulatory authority too. If they do, it's floodgates time.

Will be interesting to see if the 1.9p holds as support. Price pushed down at it and, so far, has rejected. If it does bounce from here, it could be a violent move upwards in time, because there are a lot of gaps above.

I think this is correct. I asked IR about it because TradingView has been saying for weeks the results are due "today". They told me it would be July some time, as per the normal cadence for Carclo's annual report.

It is one thing trying to break into a mature market with its established supply chains and keen margins, quite another to enter an entirely new one with no incumbents and the opportunity to create moats of your own. There is no equivalence here. Perhaps I am entirely wrong - after all I have never asserted it is anything other than speculation - but I would be very disappointed if they were not at least to explore it with some meaningful, govt-backed R&D. Your negativity is perhaps down to bruising past experience, but I am optimistic for Carclo’s future.

Just want to get this to the top of the board because it seems there's quite a bit of scepticism that POLX can ramp up its sales volume quickly. The next govt of the UK, which is projected to win by an historic landslide (whether you like that or not) has made a *manifesto commitment* to double the number of CT scanners held by the NHS.

According to the Royal College of Radiologists, that is long overdue. This from June 2022 (https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/109148/pdf/):

"Figures from the OECD in 2021 did find that the UK as a whole has fewer scanners than the majority of comparable OECD countries at 8.8 CT scanners per million population compared to an OECD average of 25.9 and 7.4 MRI scanners per million population compared to an OECD average of 16.9."

In June 2022 there were basically 1,000 CT & MRI scanners in the UK, being (8.8+7.4)x67 = 1,085. So the next govt is going on a buying spree. And POLX, a British company, has the world's leading respiratory-condition scanner, at a time when research shows the UK is lagging 20yrs behind the rest of Europe in combatting cancer (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/06/19/uk-cancer-care-is-20-years-behind-europe/).

If the MHRA (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/regulating-medical-devices-in-the-uk) can fast-track POLX's scanners on the basis that the FDA has done so and US medical universities and institutions are buying them as the best-in-class equipment, then this is a ridiculously huge, new, domestic market it can tap into instantly.

Lung cancer is comfortably the biggest cancer killer in the UK (https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/health-professional/cancer-statistics/mortality/common-cancers-compared#heading-Zero), but if only 5% of the new scanners are commissioned from POLX, then that's 50 sold here, in this country, straight off the bat.

When the market prices in that upside risk, hold onto your hats.

Feels like this has to go down before it goes up again. Expecting a dip to 17p, 16p, 11p or even - though preferably not - 9p before it really takes off. And that could be explosive - back into the 70s at least, although my l-t target is 200p+.

With a market cap of £36.7m, this is basically trading at Dec 23 book value. It has since added another £10m of cash and is six months further into its mission. There are bound to be further dilutive raises in future but, for now, it is trading at a discount.

There's a piece in the Telegraph today saying "cancer care in the UK lags 20 years behind other European countries", according to analysis by Macmillan Cancer Support.

It also cites research from February that demonstrated that when compared with Australia, Canada and Norway, the UK has the worst lung-cancer-survival rate. The NHS has a *lot* of catching up to do, and I know a firm with advanced MRI machines who can help with that.

The FDA-approval point is a very good one. In its stated quest for growth, the new Labour govt will come under tremendous pressure to introduce equivalency frameworks, whereby drugs and tech that have undergone rigorous approvals from robust medical regulators in developed countries can be waved through in the UK. I

t has already stated its intention to roll out a massive new procurement programme of MRI machines for the NHS (as I posted on here under the thread "Labour manifesto"). If introduced, then equivalency would be rocket fuel for Polarean.

Thanks for your reflections but at what point did I say high tech? In fact, I was quite explicit that the current trend in warfare is for cheap, disposable FPV drones, delivering mass. And that these are currently being produced in China, which is hardly a reliable procurement partner for NATO.

They will have to be sourced from somewhere for NATO, and reverse engineering a £40 drone from Shenzhen should not be beyond the wit of man. Carclo has several advantages to be at the forefront of this kind of R&D, and would benefit from billions of pounds of investment in that market from the UK govt if they did. There are not many firms who share those advantages, so they would have a head start if they were to pursue it.

And, if I may speak bluntly too, to suggest that just because one division of the conglomerate is not involved in an area that another is should forestall exploration of lucrative new markets is complete twaddle.

At any rate, I have never said this is anything other than postulation. I am not saying and never have that it is definitely happening. But it would be foolish of Frank and others not to look into it from an R&D perspective at the very least - especially as govt tax credits would cover a good deal of expense in doing so. And, who knows?, perhaps they'll partner with someone who's already done that R&D and offer their production capacity to produce parts. We are talking billions of pounds of new market here that they could easily tap into.

And they are closing their head office. This is not postulation, although you are quite at liberty not to believe me. As is often said on here, Bombast, DYOR.

This from the Labour manifesto was VERY interesting to investors in POLX...

Therefore, Labour will introduce a new ‘Fit For the Future’ fund to double the number of CT and MRI scanners, allowing the NHS to catch cancer and other conditions earlier, saving lives."

This is highly possible. I understand the announced closure of the Tucson facility has been followed by the closure of the UK head office in Surrey, with workers there redeploying to other offices. These are sensible cost-saving exercises.

How long before the Royal Navy, its European counterparts and the tech giants start to pay vast retainers to Tekmar to be on call for them to repair our vulnerable undersea infrastructure? We know Russian vessels are scoping our critical electrical and internet cabling and would cut them to disrupt our economy in the event of escalation in current geopolitical tensions. There aren’t many other businesses than Tekmar who could ride to the rescue at a moment’s notice.

You’re spot on about the deficit. It blew up in 2016 with the Brexit-related collapse in gilts, but they’ve recovered all their losses and more. If the fund managers stuck to their guns (or doubled down?) then the pension deficit that has been this share’s millstone will have vanished. How soon before the dividend is reinstated? (Lol.)
