@ISpy I am not surprised as standing around doing nothing but talking nonsense is kind of your forte.
I saw enough of you all on morning TV looking like something out of an episode of shameless to last me a lifetime, and that is exactly how I see you all right now. SHAMELESS.
Truthfully @KBBP I stay out of politics.
I wouldn't be surprised if Rishi Sunak get the vote this time, but anything is possible, some of the Tories are suggesting Boris should make a another run at it.
All I know is that Labour would fix the economy in the short-term and destroy it in the long-term as they always have done in the past.
What are the odds of a general election being called ?
Labour would win by a landslide and then the CWU will see how little they actually care about RMG, or even better they will show how much they care and take it back for cost and leave the shareholders with GLS.
They just interviewed a couple of the striking workers on TV, they asked one with 28 years of service, why they were striking and after 10 seconds he started stumbling over his words and had to ask his colleague " Why, are we striking again. "
Lovely weather for it today, especially in London.
From what I saw, even though most of them are just following the crowd, they seem very united and the company BOD has underestimated the unity of the workers.
The CWU reps within the company are clearly very good at doing Dave Wards bidding for him.
GLA.
Yes, Novemeber 17th will be an interesting day.
If the strikes continue beyond the 25th October, as Simon said in his video it will materially impact the overall profitability of the company, and I'm sure the finance department will have forecasted ahead of time and that is probably why he released the RNS last week.
Unfortunately, it did not have the desired effect, because the strikes are continuing in earnest and with the CWU social media account posting cartoon pictures of Simon with a bottle of champagne next to a Job Centre, is really doing neither them or the workers no favours.
It's no wonder he excuses himself from the dispute meetings, how can you negotiate with people when the other side is resorting to childish pettiness and pranks like that.
It is it what is and Simon is one person who will not be impacted that greatly however this ends, unlike 10,000's of employees who need the job to pay the bills and put food on the table.
You will strike tomorrow and Simon will respond on Friday.
The £219 million loss is real, but as everyone who works at RMG will know it's the last quarter when the majority of profits are generated, so that figure is as distorted as the figure the CWU like to use.
What is not distorted though, is the net cost of striking and the overall impact it has had and will continue to have on the company.
Personally, I think UK Royal Mail has contributed ZERO POUNDS to the overall profitability of the company for the last 30 months.
The £758 million is a bull**** figure to make the company look good, the actual profitability of the group is much less and hidden a lot further down in the annual report. UK Royal Mail actually contributed less than £200 million net in 2021 and it would have been less than that had they not received a tax credit of sorts.
It's typical accounting trickery and it's very likely the same figure Simon Thompson and the BOD used to justify their bonuses and share option payments, but it's as close to false-accounting as you can legally get with actually false-reporting.
Having said all of the above, I will add that the only thing that has prevented the company making circa £450 million PBIT this year is the strike action and the performance of the UK element.
GLA, and enjoy the rain tomorrow.
After the strike next week everything will have netted off and balanced out for UK Royal Mail,
I would guess that after next week's planned strike action that the overall profit generated by the UK element of the company for the last 30 months will in fact equate to ZERO POUNDS.
Yet, this element of the company who will have contributed an overall net value of ZERO POUNDS to the overall profitability of the Group, wants and required the more successful part of the company to pay for it's pay-rise, whist at the same time vehemently opposing having similar terms and condition of said part of the group.
Great work if you can get it.
Off the £758 Million figure that the CWU loves to use.
UK Royal Mail after other expenses and tax made available to the company less that £200 million of that total.
They have cost the company more than that in under six months this year.
KBBP,
Do you think Kate Osbourne was made aware that GLS contributed a bigger slice than UK Royal Mail towards the overall profitability, that determined the actual £758m figure, which in fact is only an arbitrary figure from the accounts, the actual profitability available to the company was somewhat lower, along with the simple fact UK ROYAL Mail gross profit contribution was less than half of the total, despite having twice the turnover of GLS.
Is it due to the Tories as to why Uk Royal mail is so ineffective in comparison to GLS and probably every other company currently that operates in the same or similar sectors.
