If Volkswagen, GM, Mercedes or BMW are making cars in china car plant and shipping to Europe, USA Aswell as selling in china how is it much different though is the bit I don’t get. Super cruise in Cadillac already being sold there. Byton about to start producing there. So I presume will be selling DMS versions in China at the same time.
So surely even now before started we are.

Ignore China at your peril is my view. Chinese love a named brand, pay double for a name. While China car sales been going down, some Western premium brands doing very well.

I dont get the dont touch China philosophy? Western brands have factories there making cars that will have our tech in i presume.

Western brands sell into China in large numbers, i presume will have our tech in anyway. How can you stop it? Need to find a way to protect your IP. The big car companies are manufacturing & selling there anyway. Can only seeing more Car companies from the West doing same. How do other Western car companies protect themselves currently?

No easy answers i guess here though? Ive seen them copy so much in my industry over the years. Ive also seen them buy 1 product and do it so not sure of solution except other car companies are doing something surely?

Substantial sales in China have reduced losses for Mercedes-Benz during a bruising year for the German carmaker

BERLIN, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- German luxury car manufacturer BMW achieved record sales in October supported by growing sales in China and the U.S., BMW announced on Friday.

In October, BMW sold a total of 204,295 vehicles worldwide with its brands BMW and Mini, increasing the number of vehicles sold by 1.7 percent year-on-year.

In China, BMW and subsidiary Mini combined sold 61,400 cars in October alone, an increase of 8.8 percent compared to the previous year, making China BMW's largest single market.

BMW sales in the U.S. grew by 7.5 percent to 28,402 units, despite "various headwinds affecting the automotive industry worldwide."

People want to have shared control of the car.

Yes you need to protect yourself but if someone tries to copy anywhere in the world it’s not easy.
What about GM selling loads there with our tech in but not on a chip. How does that work?
If Byton on a chip & others ask for a chip what happens then? China has cars and brands that we never heard of but sell loads. The Bentley or Rolls version sells for $760,000. There’s so much more money in China at the top end than most European countries. I totally agree about Aviation. Pat was like a Cheshire cat for most of the day. The other 2 sectors seem to be brewing along nicely & then this one could go boom any time. Looking forward to the coming RNS, then re-rating in the coming weeks or months ahead.

The potential in the consoles market is enormous and when you consider Pat's comments re: the number of people around the world sat at a desk monitoring critical equipment, the sky really is the limit!
Is a great saying. But after aviation is moving along, how many other industries would like the same thing? Doesn't just have to be safety critical iam sure.
