I'm assuming 261 is following AV's discussions with institutional shareholders. So there was probably consensus that 260+ and they would now expect the board to engage. And so it's shaping up to be a final offer of circa 270, which is what was speculated over the last week as sufficient. The 300+ seemed completely outlandish and yesterday's offer confirms it.

I strongly suspect Aviva haven't spent time and money on a single offer which they knew would not be accepted.

I would love 300, but 270-280 will put the board under enormous pressure to accept. So I very much doubt Aviva will need to go as high as 300.

I'd also be happy with 260-270. Ultimately a first offer is very rarely a best and final offer. So I don't mind the board playing hardball right now. I just hope that's the board's strategy and so they will engage with a higher offer.

They've been reducing their product offering. I've had business insurance with them for the last two years but I couldn't be quoted earlier this year when it came up for renewal. There are lots of similar stories. Customer numbers are likely to take quite a hit. But it's an intentional slow and steady turnaround to focus on more profitable lines. So I'm not expecting Admiral-like results, but I also don't mind given the strategy.

I was going to top up at 108 a couple of days ago but decided to hold off. Kicking myself now that I didn't given how this could go next week.

The results suit me fine. I prefer slow and steady (I'm well aware LGEN's price hasn't been that at times, but that's seldom been the company's fault).

I guess anything is possible. Although it's highly probable that once this storm is weathered LGEN will enjoy one of the very best recoveries out there.

Down through no fault of its own and the perfect opportunity to top up. I'll of course be happier when the price is higher, but pretty happy at the buying opportunity today off the back of those results.

I suspect it will fall at least a touch further - even if larger holders have already sold, there will be bad/not positive news from the others in due course which will cause further pressure on the sector. However I agree in terms of a LTH. The premium price increases that have been mentioned extensively are no bad thing - ask yourself whether it's better to have started adjusting pricing already, or to be one of the others that's offering continued knockdown prices while pretending to be immune from inflation and other headwinds? The DLG board isn't inspiring confidence, but neither are their competitors who are kicking the can down the road.

Long term hold for me. Happy enough with the performance and the dividend even if it gets cut some in due course.

But the problem with banking on a sale is that they don't seem to care either way. If it collapses it collapses. If they find a sale they find a sale. Their conduct shows they couldn't give a damn what happens.
