Clued technically no they do not if company went bankrupt the maximum they can make is what price they borrowed. Short is a bearish strategy so they maxed out when stock hits 0 with no need to return something that worthless, but shares would delisted before 0. I currently do not see the sp going to 0 anyytime soon as they make money from in demand commodity that not going away..I do see risk to divi if gas prices remain where they are as divi would need to used against debt.

The thing is why would acquired companies take dec shares over cash now..these companies also know the industry. Normally it because they can see where the market is long term

The only reason to hold is if believe the sp will fall more to make more, they do not want underlying to go to zero that would be huge issue as they cannot return borrowed shares. They also need liquid market.

GG, Blackrock it milking both sides, they taking advantage of short and long postion, basically they know the shorts want to borrow so they loan them shares, and meanwhile they know at some point they have to buy back and so risk is taken by the shorts and buy buying large volume they will take profits as share rise, personally that smart move.

This has nothing to do with why short have remained and contuie to loose out. I cannot see how they can win now unless the share price drop much lower, they also covering another dividend

Why pay for what you can basically get free.

The volume of BB is not enough at this stage to cause issues as issued so may addtional shares, through recent purchases

Looks the priority is BB now as no point using shares for purchases if the shares are worthless and sellers can see that if they would take equity it maybe worth less than just getting paid cash

As the name suggest short are that short term, eventually they need to close and they will have to buy back I actually surprised they chose not to in the last round of drops.

Normally short happy to hold when non dividend payer I now really struggling to see there point of view as they rub at loss and now covering another dividend.

The stock would have go to around 7s for them to be profitable in most cases, eventually gas prices will stabilise, so will all the other news. My only hope is BB are supported by debt reduction as well as this what putting under most risk and another dividend cut. Naturally if gas goes goes up then we in stronger cashflow position

88v8 ony loss once you sell, if you can afford to hold out likley you get a return and depending on when bought you got some divis along the way, if average is over £20+ is tough to ride out that loss

Will intresting to see how long they can keep this up and what they do after ex date, but really hoping for the short squeeze, struggling now to see what in this for shorters apart from more losses as they now covering another dividend plus ongoing intrest to borrow shares, most running at loss so even buying back will cost them. All takes couple of shorts to get spooked and we have squeeze and will happen quickly is my guess, the only sense I can think of is they cordinating in some way or really is something bad around the corner that the market and BB is not seeing but doubt that

Terry while I agree shorting is not a good activity there should be enforcement of mis information that can really impact RIs, I can understand why it allowed but think need better regulation

I have gone that way notrex and after a few divis and current prices I am in the blue wth 7-8% divi, but do want eventually start freeing up capital, I still believe gas and oil both have room to gap up eventually, I was hoping for this sooner rather than later and shorts not helped the price and sentiment

The fact that larger BB are not really doing much says a lot. Blackrock sentiment is not even making much difference, so this now just hedge against gas prices going up. As dividend is not going to change in positive direction any time soon.

This is now a bargin of the century or massive loss cause.

Not sure if there is legal issues because they already told market there doing buybacks so there is no manipulation. But agree with there given Peel mandate to manage the share buyback based on available funds

I just cannot see how the market would see Dec below what most shorts entered at, plus already they covered one div

Sort agree but think they needed to agree the acquisition deals then know what was left in the piggy bank and also make sure no further deals where around
