I was relieved to know Openspaces that someone else also has problems with trimmers. I got one for my birthday and literally within few minutes of first use flash. Thought it was faulty until the wife pointed out that half the cable was lying on the lawn. Since then I have done it twice. I now follow the advice to pass the cable trough the hook on the handle. It reduces the chances of the cable trailing to the front.
I have been depressed and confused by the performance of Solgold today. Despite all the excitement over the weekend the price did not go up even a fraction of a penny. And where is the RNS from the company when the weekend news was thought to be a game changer.
Cadell, Your comments about CEO add further to my depression. Company being taken over shortly after he joins would hardly qualify as “taking the company forward”. So he must have been convinced that a takeover was not imminent. That takes me back to your comment “No doubt he will be given the opportunity to hand out some good news after he joins Dec.1 “ And good news over the weekend has not moved the price hence my further depression.
Smickster, INMO your scenario not sufficiently extended so here we go
Nick voted out
More Bhp aligned board members
Low ball offer
Solg release raft of news in some sort of defense.
Board recommends the low ball offer (Cos as per you more BHP aligned members)
Someone comes in with a higher offer
Board forced to recommend higher offer
BHP improves offer
Oh no another higher bidder
And BHP raises offer
Ultimately it goes to auction like Morrison
If that does not happen then the company clearly not worth more than the low bid offer.
Come on BHP test it out with a low ball offer of 50p. .
As frustrated shareholder all i can is Past performance is no guarantee of future success. i am heavily invested (heavy in terms of a man of moderate resources) and at present the only return I see is friendly exchanges on this BB
Good morning ColonelDrake, your post has reaffirmed my worry that NM still v much in the driving seat. That has pros and cons. On account of my age I want a quick out at say 50+ so that I can enjoy the proceeds. The biggest con for me is that NM will not let that happen. I also believe that NM will do everything in his power to take this to production. So NM is all cons for me no pros

"I can settle even on a 25th December AGM if Santa shows up with a BHP offer at £1!"
TheItalian, in a bid to save the planet and stress of shopping we have for last couple of years gone for token presents from Santa . So only 50p is enough for me please BHP .
ColonelDrake, I believe that the opening of the jam jar will depend on how strong the NEDs are. in my working life I came across a similar situation where the Jar would would have been opened had it not been for NED's strong opposition . The directors are already on record as saying the company is undervalued. So i would propose jam jar linked to the share price reaching 80% of what the the directors think the value is . Getting Alpala fully funded monetising some assets is what they get paid the salary for.
ColonelDrake, excellent post as usual. the only thing that continues to puzzle me is why no bid so far? no CEO, dropping share price, apparent lack of confidence in BOD, Copper in demand etc yet no bid. Surely now must be be right time to strike.
