I thought my M&S holding only went in one direction!
I sold out on this basket case some 18-24 months ago. At the time I set out my rational as to why their business model was seriously flawed including their whole concept of financing. I mentioned I had close knowledge of a similar but much more successful approach. I got shot down by several on this board. I had a few shares left over when I sold the rest and I see today they have, over that time, lost 80% of their value. Hopefully no one still on this blog has a big exposure.
Yep, they and several others got this wrong but it's the CEO who needs to go now. His decision making has become increasingly bizarre or overly optimistic.
Are the BoD of TNI asleep at the wheel? Will we read about it in their New Day publication which has the circulation numbers of their office staff? Or perhaps they like the fact their SP looks like a ski slope?
...should have mentioned at least started to pay divi again.
Before Christmas I thought they had started to get their act together. Now I am not so sure. The launching of a new paper does seem madness - who buys papers these days anyway, I don't. I only have a few thousand in here so prepared to wait it out.
Bright. What makes you say banking side is doing great? What effectvdoes that arm of ms havevon profits? Interested if you know.
I am down 10% on this stock on a £10k original holding. The Rest of my shares, bonds etc are now up despite market crash jan/feb. This better start moving up or I am out. Feels like M&S are about as nimble as the BBC. As others have said and my wife would agree......the womens range is so boring.
Any reaction out on the street to this? Selling or not?
Cannot make up my mind to invest further here. Basic problem there is so little info, no PR and this BB is dead quiet by the looks of it.
Positive results and much more upside to come. Great news in the divi increase.
Agree with Catlin. Just bought a chunk of shares as already a bond holder. This company has excellent management and they do not shy away from bad news and then dealing with it. I have been on a couple of their investor calls. Share price had already baked in the news about Poland and Slovakia so todays fall is unwarranted. 2016 will be challenging but they already started the remedial action in Q4. They now have an ex senior Microsoft Exec now on board which will help them deploy their news platforms, business is cash positive. Definitive buy from me and there was a huge purchase today of £1m.
Again big buys in top 5 today but lots of small sells. Topped up at 141 p as this is a steal
At the time of this post very more buys than sells in number and value, yet SP is down. Can anyone explain that to me. Might take up with LSE once full day close is revealed later.
Not a diect competitor but surely helpful to TNI that Independent are no londer publishing hard copy
As usual this gets hit with Asian shares, despite the fact it has prooven its resilience and has a well managed portfolio
Glad to say as my post a few days ago said this is climbing back up to 230
