You are bang on and the very next morning we had the RNS in which he stated the same, i.e. he had no information from Government. fwiw, we will never know what is true, unfortunately. My view is JW has overstretched with too many fingers in too many pies, aka diversification. But it was clearly a stretch too far. A lot of money has been invested in infrastructure and manpower over past 2 years. Someone is going to reap the benefits of all these efforts. I have stated previously my guesses who they may well be in background. Just hoping us shareholders will not be shafted !!

Just feel a bit gutted for all REAL shareholders (too much glee from certain posters, which I personally find in poor taste, some folks on here try to look smart by pointing out obvious exceptions, yet actually signal the opposite) each to their own, its a free world

Torridge and Tavistock’s MP, Sir Geoffrey Cox KC, who met the minister today, described the decision as regrettable but said he had received the assurances he had sought and that he was content for now to take them at face value.

Sir Geoffrey Cox said: “The Minister told me she was confident Appledore Shipyard would remain open and would be able to carry out the construction of the Fleet Solid Support Vessels, which represents many years of work for hundreds of local people and exciting opportunities for dozens of local apprentices.

“I have no reason to disbelieve the assurances I have been given, but I shall be holding the new Labour Government to account for its promises in this regard and for the continuation of the many other investments scheduled for Torridge and Tavistock under the Conservative Government.”

Accountancy, firm, EY is advising the government on its options, and accountants from Deloitte, have been parachuted in to replace Grant Thornton in advising the Harland and Wolff board, according to city sources.

Whitehall sources said this weekend that civil servants were confident an interim deal could be struck that removes the immediate risk of administration. Whether a long-term deal can be struck agreed remains to be seen.

The shipbuilder already owes US hedge fund Riverstone $115 million loan and the bosses have been trying to refinance. A further £20 million loan is under discussion.

“I’d love to get my hands on it”, said Michael Flacks of distressed investor Flacks group. Harland and Wolff and the government declined to comment.

In an email to directors seen by the FT, chief financial officer Arun Raman said the company was “at advanced stages of raising and closing additional financing . . . and we should be in a position to make an announcement shortly”.

Raman urged directors to “reassure your workforce and colleagues as well as anyone from the supply chain who is raising questions” that the board was not putting the company into administration. He called such narrative “wholly untrue and incorrect”.

The Type 31 Project has recorded a £90M loss to be spread over the life of the programme - mainly due to inflation and higher labour costs.

Dispute Resolution Process with MoD has been settled, enabling the restructuring of the programme to drive efficiency and to protect the in-service date.

Stokey, you will .note that terms have already been agreed with the banks and they are ready to lend, and I should add, have been for some considerable time. H&W have been played like a political football !!

I have just spoken directly to JW. He has said that, H&W have not been told this information from the FT release. He stated that Ministers are 'distancing' themselves from it, quoting it states 'from another source.
