This is still (SNG001) a golden ticket for all the reasons that have been said a 1000 times before. Absolutely nothing has changed. Yes, vaccines have come along BUT therapeutics will always be needed AND many of them for multiple reasons and some in combination. This virus will eventually be under control, others will come along. I am not going to start talking technically about viruses, albeit I was, for the first 15 years of my working life a virologist, so could blabber eternally about H1N1 and all the many sub virion types. Most folk on this board would not even appreciate what the nomenclature means. H is haemagglutinin and N is neurominidase. The H is the pretty spike and the inner bits the N.
When a virus replicates or makes copies of itself, it sometimes changes a little bit. These changes are called “mutations”. The virus with the new mutation(s) is called a “variant” of the original virus.
Some viruses change fast and others more slowly, this virus, changes more slowly than others viruses such as HIV or influenza viruses. This is in part due to the fact that SARS-CoV-2 has an internal “proofreading mechanism” which corrects mistakes when it makes copies of itself (clever little fecker)
Most changes have little to no impact on the virus’ properties. Occasionally, they result in a virus variant that is better adapted to its environment compared to the original virus. In that case, it can become dominant in a specific environment. This process of selection of successful variants is called “viral evolution” and this is a natural process all viruses go through.
But enough of all that *******s.
The important point is that this IFB1a will be successful in Phase 3 and have absolutely NO DOUBT that every pharma will want us. Try and forget the day to day shenanigans that go on whilst everyone awaits the guaranteed successful endgame.
