Libya aren’t cutting to bolster oil price, they’re in dispute and this could be a protracted loss of significant production which would normally be heading for Europe. A little different I’d say.

Invstrat, I’m not sure the OPEC quota means anything when a member has just taken 1 million bbl off the table.

I too get the impression that hanging onto cash is prudent given the need to ramp up production when the ITP goes live. With Libya choked off, the need to get the ITP up and running increases significantly. Europe needs to replace those lost bbl.

The above Chinese national oil company put out a press release yesterday indicating their desire to acquire assets outside of their national boundaries. It’s my opinion that majors and super majors are not on their list of targets as strategic interests will prevent this, however, Caucasian and Middle East producers are easy pickings. The ICG and KRG have made no secret of their willingness to embrace the Chinese and the Russians wouldn’t have any grounds for objection to an acquisition in their back yard. I believe we may be on the cusp of an M&A frenzy. Fingers crossed GKP is being considered.

I’m new to this forum but not to this share, been in and out over many years and never lost money. Regards the CNPC press release, I don’t think any of the super majors or even majors have anything to fear. Strategic interests will prevent any non aligned state holding a majority share. However, Middle East and Caucasian producers should be on notice.

I know, I had a reasonable profit at 140 plus but thought we’d get some movement on the ITP opening so held. I now don’t see anything happening for some time so, I’ll wait for a significant drop and a profit on my BP holding before getting back in. I can’t see the 90s as itsaballoon often talks about but, this could head towards the 120s.

I decided to dump my holding yesterday and take the small profit I had. I’ve put the funds into BP in the hope of some good numbers in next week’s results. I’ll keep an eye on GKP and get back in when it settles. GLA
