In since 2015 but was about to finally sell up & cut losses this morning after seeing how gov attempts to sell AIB stock as gone since 2017. Had the sell order placed but canceled it. Going to stick around. Think medium term this will come good & wouldn`t be surprised if Bank of Ireland buy back 5% off the government after indicating they were planning buybacks earlier this year.
Was a stupid move alright radar - waste of a few hundred euro. Going to sell up everything now.
Added a few BIRG shares yesterday at 4.47 to average down a tiny bit.
Tough few days alright. Breaking news this morning that Irish Gov is selling their BIRG stock - hopefully will result in a bounce for us all!
In other words that thundering gob****e Boris Johnson stalled on closing the border with India as he fancied his trip there on April 25th which he was eventually forced to cancel. His dithering means Delta Variant came into UK much more than it would have. Thundering Gob****e.
Delta-variant is currently about 188 cases in total in the republic of Ireland to date. The majority of vaccinated Irish people have received Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccines which have been shown in limited trials to be at least 88% effective against the Delta Variants. Astrazeneca is also highly effective against it but only after 2 shots. The prob in UK is that there is a huge gap between vax shot 1 and vax shot 2 and the when you only have one shot of AZN its not effective against severe disease of the delta variant. Once people get their 2 shots then delta variant will be controlled in uk and here.
Any idea why SP is down 3.5% today folks?
Hung on to 15000 shares with break even average of 7.21 Euro......for years like an idiot....always intended going very long but so much slaughter ensured...especially all the Blackrock gouging plays keeping it down at times....then below 1.70 this time last year. Starting to think that break even could be achieved eventually! Have done very well on all other stocks thankfully to offset this but watching this recover in 12 months has been a thing of beauty. If this somehow turns to profit the pints will be on me lads! Good Luck all
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a million
Hi folks,
https://www.reuters.com/article/boig-sale-credit-cards-idUSL8N23Z175
with this sale of half a billion worth of UK business announced today , how much direct exposure to UK market remains? How big is the remaining UK BIRG business? Does this reduce it to a much much smaller amount?
Thanks
Greg
Anyone Heard any more about Fintech developments & BIRG? :Linking up with Worldfirst etc.?
might give the sp a lift especially when BIRG has invested so heavily in this
http://www.lse.co.uk/share-regulatory-news.asp?shareprice=BIRG&ArticleCode=owrtzuir&ArticleHeadline=Notification_of_Major_Holdings follow the link....scroll down to the bottom....these are all the companies BlackRock uses to carry out its various trades of BIRG stock that are currently declared
PGee personally I reckon most likely longterm manipulator is BlackRock through several secondary offshores where they are selling and buying back in lower with the offshores. They own 3-8% of the stock at any one time always dynamic trading rarely static at 5% for example. Anyone else got any ideas? Don't hate the player....if we could just mirror them we`d make a fortune....the gits!
Long may it continue. Well done on increasing your holdings. May SP ascending to the top of the pile continue unabated...here's to a good week.
Think we both were.....maybe eventually there`ll be a buyout of the government shareholding but they are unlikely to sell while price is 20% below where it should be. Management with one hand cutting 200 million in costs & 1500 staff from staff that are already overworked and fed up yet putting 200 million into "culture" and other undisclosed non-yield randomness. hanging our hopes on a 6% increase in mortgage lending in Ireland year on year for next 3 years when there is no houses built for people to buy and no government policy to make that happen? When is the right time to cut the losses?
Nice one - thanks for the info. Fingers crossed SP smashes 8 next week then keeps rocketing.
In my opinion(very much amateur but with skin in the game): Share Drop today = Boris Johnson village idiot speech promoting a hard Brexit so torries can peddle worse employee rights, environmental controls, consumer right with Irish border checks(he doesnt give a toss) just like they have done with NHS while in power. Same lad who wrote 2 polar opposite speeches depending on whether remain or leave won...the shameless hypocrisy of the man to do anything to be PM astounds. BIRG adversely exposed on drops to sterling & hard brexit as has much business in Britain. Share drop last week due to US unease as they try to find bottom of their market/fear of end of bull market there and global nerves on that whenever there is a new us announcement on interest rates, inflation, etc. Rises due to price recovery from recent falls/speculation around dividend. Spreads are becoming wider recently- if volatility becomes protracted we may see increased shorting/ increased trading volumes like before 30:1 split.
