Mongolia plans to increase direct foreign investment to $4 billion in 2024

June 7, 2023 (AKIPRESS.COM) - The Mongolian government aims to create a mechanism to attract and protect investments and increase foreign direct investment to $4 billion in 2024.

Mongolia signed an Economic Partnership Agreement with Japan in 2016 as part of the Mongolian Development Plan 2024 on increasing investment.

The Economic Partnership Agreement with the Republic of Korea, the Free Trade Agreement with China, and the Investment Promotion and Mutual Protection Agreement with the three countries will be extended next year.

In addition, it is planned to launch a comprehensive airborne geophysical exploration using modern advanced technologies, increase the coverage area by up to 20%, and increase investment in the mining sector.

Foreign direct investment has reached $2.5 billion by 2022. 20.7% of energy was imported last year. The Ministry of Economy noted that it is important to make the energy sector cost-effective, fully satisfy domestic needs, create basic conditions for exports, introduce free zones into economic circulation and attract investments.

The problem here is that without LP confirmation before the results of V1 it’s a bit red/black. Can’t see many holding during the results window for this reason.. There’s a lot on PM’s shoulders at this time

Currently, construction has commenced on a 530-km carbon steel pipeline that will traverse three provinces: Dornod, Sukhbaatar, and Dornogovi.

To put it in perspective, the pipeline will transport over 4100 tonnes of oil daily from Matad soum to Altanshiree soum under high pressure. Additionally, the amount of oil transported per day can be increased to 6500 tonnes, which equates to 2.4 million tonnes annually.
