Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
I'm running a wine business so only dip in to read or write infrequently.
So where's the debate/speculation from the more regular contributors?? Have they no idea, no creative opinion in regard to the best developing conditions to cause a meaningful rise for the SP here? Usually plenty to say on a host of other subjects. Bamboozled? Too tricky a question?
Well, I think it is difficult in reality. See below re: Liion's comment. And ref denver21's 'answer', which has not been challenged, are the majority of us (in this case a rather silent majority) simply awaiting some form of unspecified miracle?! Really?
Ah well, back to discussing the price of lithium, Czech politics, the growth of the electric car market, cutting and pasting and linking, building databases - just in case something happens.
I am simply asking for some ideas regarding what we can hope to see in the future which could drive up the fortunes of this company. I think there is material for a sensible debate here.
Thanks for your reply, Jackb. I agree. It's the lack of a transparent co-ordinated strategy that maintains the fogginess. Along the lines of your comments, can it be envisioned that even if one of the remote investments met with stupendous success it may not be sufficient to counter the negative effect due to the depreciation of the remainder on KDNC SP. So what would be needed. Two successes. Three? And, I repeat my question, does Cadence have to sell those winning shares in order to have its SP re-rated (ie on £ in its bank) or retain the interest and hope that the market provides the re-rate on the basis on increased value of the asset?
I am disappointed that there has not been more discussed on these matters.
I have been a long-term shareholder to date (first purchased August 2013) and seen the SP go down and past my ave and keep on going.
Would the rampers please remind me of the reasons (with supportive evidence) we should continue to hold these leaden tickets. What, in your opinion, do we need to happen? Thank you. (Derampers - no need to reply).
Unbelievable! KM needs a swift kick to clear his mind! What a waste of time and money! KDNC have become serial RNS releasers and management has become giddy and confused with the very rate of the issues. Now very unprofessional in certain aspects. And I wonder what the cost is of all the RNS's over the past three years, say. I know they have to be done but they must amount to a serious overhead compared to other companies and the irony is that the combined might of this massive news collection has only resulted in a decline of the SP!!
Don't get me wring. I have been holding a fair chunk for many years and wish it will one day come good. I am simply underlining the existence of so much 'news' and so little benign effect.
Would someone care to express an opinion re: how the mechaniism will work that brings about the reward that we hope for? An example, perhaps? If EMH finds kilos of diamonds and their SP triples and therefore the value of our shareholding increases what needs to happen for a noticeable rise in our SP? Do we have to sell the shares in order to bring that success, for example? What needs to be the chain of events under such a scenario? Anybody know?
jungerns: 'Watch out for an RNS between 1 and 1.15pm. I don't KNOW that but have strong suspicions that the Portland numbers crunch will be revealed around then. Call it experience. Acknowledge I may well be wrong'.
So, if you are wrong we will call it lack of experience, right? Which, no doubt, means that all your assumed credibility will be completely undermined and never again will your feelings, opinions and suspicions be taken seriously. Why would any intelligent person expose him/herself to public ridicule by posting such a statement for all to read?
Well, good luck. I hope it proves accurate. Are you sure you wouldn't like to stretch it to 1:30pm?
I have been holding shares in this company for 5 years. I find it interesting, perhaps morbidly so, that unlike many other companies, we seem to be inundated with frequent RNSs. The news releases are generally of a 'non-negative' if not 'positive' nature and yet have little effect on the value of KDNC (other than possibly negative).
One could be forgiven for imagining that a high rate of 'positive' news delivery would result in a upwardly mobile SP so why is it not so?
Is it because, in reality the impact of 'new levels of mineral deposits, new discoveries, new investments, new acreages', etc etc in essence, have only a miniscule effect on these companies we, by proxy, have invested in? I mean, just how are all these updates and newsbites measured. When is something going to stick? I mean, if the RNSs are important enough to have to be issued, where is the reflected impact on the improved financial health of the company we are directly invested in?
I raise these points for discussion and other inputs from other investors. Short-terrmers, with respect, need not bother themselves. Thanks.
GEUK, excusable usage under the circumstances I'm guessing (it's been been binned long ago). It's the sort of thing I would say when provoked and then later regret that I was dragged to that low a level. It is very difficult communicating with morons or sociopaths. One really shouldn't try to reason with them. Instead, all of us who feel there is a rational need to respond rather than filter, should take up their 'point' and, even if it doesn't make total sense, use it to publicise a positive message. Bit like a media-trained politician does. Take out the bit you want from the verbiage they post and spin it into a large positive point. That will be the last thing they want to cause. I must admit I don't have the time to follow my own suggestion and continue to cram ever more into the dungeon. But there are posters here who are anti-filtering and some are good at the conversion to positivity by answering but largely ignoring the incoming point of attack and simply take the opportunity to shout their message over the top of the trll's voice. I mean, most of them can't even string words together or know the difference between 'there' and 'their' or 'here' and 'hear' or 'lose' and 'loose' or 'would of' and 'would have'. It's cringeworthy and embarrassing so, personally, I would rather not see their attempts, let alone converse.
Morning DHC, just to be clear I can tell you that the capital A that appears intermittently within LSE text is simply a software glitch that their 'techies' have been unable to eliminate to date. This annoying error has been apparent for many, many months and has been reported by me. It has also been acknowledged by LSE. This has already been mentioned by another poster recently. It has nothing to do with Australian currency symbols. You should have noticed the £ symbol is used rather than $. Yes, these days the currency in Australia is dollars.
I suggest you confirm that you have now grasped this fact and cease spreading theories about Australian investment. This weird desperation based on shaky evidence simply for something to say reveals quite a bit about you, your mentality and your rationale for posting and pushing.
I have owned shares in UKOG for 5 years and it is my opinion that you do not help other investors and you do not help yourself. My advice would be to sharpen up your diligence and step back a few paces to view your deliveries objectively before pressing 'Post'.
Hi Rich125, sorry for delay in responding. Only just checked in again since yesterday. Impressive answer to my questions. Demonstrates your breadth of Cadence knowledge. Thank you very much for taking the time. I bet it has helped other investors, too. Great summary.
But prospects do not appear overly rosy from what I interpret from your words and I haven't much idea of what the board members could do to enhance our chances of a sooner rise in fortunes other than attract many new investors which wouldn't appear to be an achievable task given current shape of the portfolio. More investments in new companies, perhaps?
I guess the most sensible choice is to bury the shares and come back much later with the spade.

Government publishes draft Finance Bill 2018-19
Amongst the business tax measures included in the draft legislation are changes to the corporation tax reform of loss relief rules; the introduction of corporation tax on non-UK resident companies with UK property income; and changes to oil and gas taxation.
FRC publishes new Corporate Governance Code
The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has published a revised Corporate Governance Code, which emphasises the 'importance of positive relationships between companies, shareholders and stakeholders'.
The revised Code states that relationships between companies, shareholders and stakeholders are 'at the heart' of long-term growth in the UK economy, and urges businesses to 'create a culture which aligns company values with strategy'.
Hello Barksy et al, could you please help me with an opinion?
I have been holding shares here for 5 years, sadly (?) but have not always maintained sufficient focus on the 'bigger picture' (there must be one, I suppose). I am not a trader (I run a wholesale wine business - good prices of worthy LTHs!!). My question is: what needs to happen for an investment company (KDNC, in this case) to demonstrate success via its SP? We have seemingly progressive involvements in a number of other companies (I presume KDNC will soon need a special annual budget for RNS costs!) but of late no amount of news advances the SP. So, in general terms, what needs to take place here (or there)? I feel I have lost the plot (their plot). I have lost sight of the company objective(s). Is KDNC simply more like a mining fund manager? What are you guys next hoping for in order to see a meaningful uplift in fortunes? Having swung my focus on to KDNC this afternoon for an update in summary, I rather discover that I am instead somewhat confused. Please help with directions. Thank you.
Typical snide remark from your sort, dH. Even if it was true, the very fact you had to suggest it (presumably for smart points/self-promotion) demonstrates the type of character you are, IMO. Don't suppose you would ever have accepted more pay for less work., would you?
Just remember that this is a temporary arrangement while the affair is investigated, as is right and proper. Now I shall shut you up by throwing you into the soundproof dungeon. You'll meet like-minded people there. It'll be fine.
