hopsta999, let me explain it to you.
The group have several horse racing licences in the US. It has had these since the purchased of WatchandWager.com Limited back in September 2009. The licence W+W have cover horse racing in the following states:
The company holds United States pari-mutuel licences for its ADW business in the US, namely a multi-jurisdictional licence issued by North Dakota and individual licenses in California, Kentucky and New York, as well as several other US States.
It has recently renewed some of these licences already, which include so far North Dakota (no where near California by the way). They are currently in the process of renewing or have renewed licenses in California, New York, Kentucky, Washington, and Minnesota. The California one is being renewed today as per RNS for accounts.
These are all as per licences they already have, and renewal should be a formality.
Now the bit where some folks are getting a little mixed up, purposely or not. Following the US Supreme Court’s landmark decision to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, states have begun to pass legislation allowing for legal and regulated sports betting within their borders. Some states have already passed this, but not California. It may well be next year or the year after, all depends on the political decisions in the state. Once this legislation is law in California, it opens up the door for sports betting in a much bigger scale. This is the reason for the big rise ion the share this year, until folks realized it may take a while before these states implement the required legislation into law, especially California.
Some on here have pumped it to make it look like this simple and formality licence renewal was the big sports betting legislation in California, everyone is waiting for. It is not, and simple read of that recent RNS and several back RNS's would have explained.
The simple truth here is that sports betting will remain illegal in California, until the state passes the legislation to make it lawful. Imo it will be around 2020, but could have a chance in mid 2019.
Do not get the old licence renewal and sports betting legislation confused, they are separate entity's, as well some on here know.
Some have made good money today on the pump/ramp, some will be spiked on misinformation spread, or at least twisted to make it look more important then it was. A 100% rise on a renewal of existing licence on a existing business, which will not enhance the revenue, but rather keep it close to what is reported this year to next year. Go figure, but this is AIM and anything is possible.
