I spotted this interesting article on BCN site.. will SAV make it to production before takeover???
https://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/947109/will-the-merger-between-orocobre-and-galaxy-spark-a-new-round-of-corporate-activity-in-the-lithium-sector-947109.html
ok.. got it.. spodumene concentrate is end goal.. thanks
has Savannah stated what lithium extraction method they intend to use on spodumene and the cost of extraction?
Hello everyone.. it's been a while since I posted here .. I would first like to add that I look forward to reading Iceberg's comments for his quality research and excellent knowledge of SAV. He has been posting here on the SAV chat board for a long time. .. .. and back to my finding. Accordng to this article (which was posted here earlier today): https://www.afr.com/business/mining/how-australias-pennydreadfuls-stole-a-march-on-the-lithium-world-20180606-h112ka I quote: "Lithium hydroxide has become the go-to product ... players like Tesla are only buying lithium hydroxide. The advantages are it gives much better energy density and that leads to much better range, and power and range are the holy grail of electric vehicles," he told an audience in Perth in March. "For South American producers to convert their lithium carbonate into lithium hydroxide, they generally need to add an extra processing stage, which adds extra cost." My point here is that lithium hydroxide is the product the market wants. Now accordong to the bacanora website http://www.bacanoralithium.com/projects/sonora-lithium/ " Indicated Mineral Resource estimate of over 5 million tonnes (‘Mt’) (comprising 1.9 Mt of Measured Resources and 3.1Mt of Indicated Resources) of lithium carbonate " Bacanora's product is lithium carbonate which (s an inferior product to lithium hydroxide for making batteries (according to article above). Savannah resources on the other hand has found Lithium Oxide (Li₂O) see http://www.savannahresources.com/assets/mina-do-barroso/ Lithium Oxide can be converted to Lithium Hydrogen much more easily and cheaply that Lithium Carbonate. I think I would prefer to put my money in Savanna rather than Bacanora. Any comments would be welcome. DYOR
don't feel bad, my average is 11.5p and I'm sure there are others with far higher averages. If it were my only holding then I would call it a disaster.. however this stock is only 10% of my portfolio and has been is my worst performing share and yet I still have high expectations from it in the long term. There is a lot to be said for having a balanced portfolio. Despite a lousy year my pf is still at the same level as last year. You cannot win them all but with careful risk management you can win most of them or at least minimise losses. gl
well its a disappointing rns but I can't help but feel that the market reaction is overdone. The rns is not that bad.. whilst production was down (due to maintenance) , the ferrochrome sales were still reasonable and who knows?.. there may still be a profit however marginal. The cost of maintenance and the higher electricity tariffs increased the borrowings and this too was disappointing but this is a short term (seasonal effect) and was compounded by the double-whammy effect of the cogen plant maintenance costs whilst out of action. They really do need to sort this issue out and hopefully by q2 no more problems. Also:- 'FeCr production cost is expected to decrease as the winter electricity tariffs are behind us and the full benefit of UG2 consumption is realised.' So next update should be better right???
IFL are operating in a difficult market... seems investors are not yet convinced they can stay in profit.. I believe they have a lot going for them.. they are a low cost producer and that matters a lot Annual report is out today http://ifml.com/~/media/Files/I/Ifml-V2/results-and-presentations/results/ar-2014.pdf Monday we have the next 3 month production update.. that should interesting and could be a price mover.. up hopefully ;-)

another plunge @5.70 who would have thought?? ... buyers seem spooked by current global markets.. and probably Halloween too ;-)
Proactive Investors presentation today?
market jitters unfortunately will always panic a few shareholders into selling. Xmas has come early for some buyers.
Yes, it was the directors that where buying this morning!.. finally they are signalling confidence with there cash and not just their mouths.. it's all good :-)
There is a lot of heavy buying going on this morning.... I think the market is starting to wake up to what we have here. . sp could be about to pop..
I like it! IFL has seen an opportunity and is picking up the cheap assets of failed steel industry companies. The steel industry is in the doldrums but it will turn... this is how fortunes are made! More info in the links. http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/news/AN_1412162661653128900/international-ferro-buys-australian-coking-assets-with-portnex.aspx http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/10/01/internationalferrometals-brief-idUKASN0004VL20141001
The the retort coke industry is a surprise diversification. IFL seems confident they can sell the product and have immediate customers for it. There is no no mention of purchase price but its sensible to assume they are getting this asset for rock bottom price direct from the administrators so that cannot be bad. Interesting.
Chris Jordaan, CEO at International Ferro Metals (LON:IFL) tells Proactiveinvestors the company has expanded its markets 'quite significantly'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md-hvgXtz4k
another good profit announcement. so far so good.. we need consistent announcements like this and this will fly However, I'm surprised its still at only 7p.. I expected at least 9p after a such a promising rns. lets see where this closes today.
I would guess most investors here are sitting on a loss including myself (you can't win them all) and I too am confident this will shine in the end. They just need to get back to announcing regular profits to erode the debt... this isn't goingto happen overnight however once investor confidence returns this will soar (multibag).
Are you kidding?? do you have any idea how much cash these companies are sitting on? They could buy IFL with loose change. Its more a question of whether or not it fits their long term plans.
