Exactly Byrne9. Max a short can deliver is 100%. Could be on for many, many times that here & quickly if there’s corporate action.
US about to join the fun too
I agree licker. I don’t think all shorts are what they seem. But still utterly stupid of them to keep an open short position on a share with so much positive news flow, potential corporate action and against the backdrop of improving macro if you ask me. They’re just reducing the profit they’ll make on their long.
I’m not sure about a short squeeze - and I’m not even sure I want one - but I do think the chances become greater as we we trundle up without them reducing significantly.
The main two things I think could cause one are:
- MM completing his property sale and a) the balance received being significant (I’m not certain he’ll pocket all the difference between the £250m sale price and £128m council loan) and b) he chooses to invest it in THG on the open market. He may of course have other plans for it as part of an MBO or elsewhere. We need him to plough in at these levels because he’ll be less worried about letting the SP off the leash because any increase benefits him more than it would do an external buyer.
- Entering the FTSE 250. Tracker fund demand + exiting shorts would be nice to watch.
The important thing here though is I sense the free float is getting smaller and smaller as the shares rest in stickier hands each day. So whether it comes from the above sources or something completely unexpected/unknown to us atm, any significant rise in demand (like improving risk appetite) will cause the shorts a problem imo. I’d be getting out now if I were them but I kinda hope they don’t 😃
Beauty of this slow build up to break £1 has meant that when we finally smash through it, we’ll have momentum to take us on a good run! Also expect it’ll form a support too.
Been great to watch the build up to it these last few trading days.
The valuation disparity between Ocado and THG is outrageous. Will correct itself though 👍🏻
Well I wish they’d stop expanding elsewhere and start restocking impact diet whey and vimto clear whey isolate in the UK.
Good they’re struggling to keep up with demand from a shareholder perspective, not a consumer one though.
Soon as we’re past £1 we’ll be off to £1.20 in short order I reckon. Dow & Nasdaq rose through the session so hopefully clear that early tomorrow morning.
Enjoy the golf though, after another blue day.
We know your employers want out but can you tell them we’re not selling, sorry.
Very strong performance. Looked like it was ending blue all day and being kept under £. Good consolidation.
🚀🚀🚀
Keeping the shackles on this today unfortunately
Thats a symptom and cause thing, I’d say, ihavenoclue. Stocks with external pressures get sorted.
Governance was another excuse for the shorts and a few off-ish results haven’t helped matters either. Both now resolved (hopefully 🤞🏻)
Cityad - basically… inflation, the consumer confidence it damages and the interest rate hikes it brings are the biggest factor in this SP fall from £5-8 to current levels.
The road back to steady inflation & lower interest rates isn’t likely to be a quick one but any steps in the right direction will benefit the SP.
Is that municipal ??🤣😂🤣
My bet is it disappears
You’re preaching to the converted OSG 😉
As I keep saying, my preference is that we remain listed and return to much higher levels than any offer would achieve now, but when you loom at it, US firms must be all over this!
Their valuations may be crazy high but ours (in the UK) are crazy low. So to them, it’s a no brainer to be investing here to keep powering their growth. Although I think PE & sovereign wealth will be sniffing around with a view to a break up/re-lisiting scenario they’ll have plenty of competition from industry peers who’ll want their brands imo.
It’ll come out of the blue though. Gresham today was completely unknown to the markets as far as I can tell. I think it’ll go like that which is why you can’t afford to be out of this for a second.
Without question OSG. When looking at potential UK targets US firms must have THG right at the very top of their lists. It’s a matter of time before one of them puts a deal on the table (I think lots have crossed it already).
The only questions for me are whether they declare it o and whether it’s accepted.
Need shares BAZ!
Sorry all, for some reason putting a less than sign in a post cuts it off completely at the sign, so my reply below is in 3 parts! :S
