RE: NEGOTIATE AGREEMENTS WITH FOREIGN SUPPLIERS TO REDUCE U.S. RELIANCE ON IMPORTED PROCESSED CRITICAL MINERALS15 Jan 2026 11:28
That's fair esduk. I'm feeling giddy today though so let me fire a few things back!
- Right now one of our major competitors in the US already has a price floor in place only for its magnets. I'd suggest everyone including us having the same price floor is better than one competitor only.
- With the way the price of neodymium is going the market price (which as we know is also manipulated but let's go with 'market price' for ease) is going to overtake the price floor organically anyway. I appreciate that if the price sky rockets to 10x from here then we'll get a lot of competition in the space, however I think the price of Nd going up is positive.
- How much competition can realistically come online in a timeframe that will threaten our business case? Existing companies may pump more money into their infrastructure but from what I understand there will be plenty of room for plenty of manufacturers with demand growing. We are well on our way to production already.
- Further to that point, if Chinese imports are going to be fully locked out of Western markets then the West will need all the magnet producers they can get hold of.
- We've got the greenest, cheapest, fastest to produce magnets in the world. Bring on the competition π
