Let's humour him, then.
1. Concerns about manpower involved
The latest RNS states each HDD is processed in *3 seconds*, with the potential to process more than 30,000 HDDs (approximately 15 tonnes HDDs) per unit per 5 day week.
2. Concerns about value of HDDs
We now have a "second groundbreaking technology brought to commercial scale by HyProMag and its partners" (William Dawes). They wouldn't be so enthused about this if it wasn't a huge deal. They see this as unlocking massive value to the company. Additionally, HDDs won't be the only source of feedstock, as we all know.
I think the importance of this RNS has mostly been lost on investors, especially when you contrast the generally muted response with how the BoD are talking about it ('groundbreaking', 'major benefits for sustainable, secure and low-cost recycling', 'geared to large-scale data centre deployment on a global scale').
Comparing this to the cost of mining virgin material is ludicrous, frankly.
