The problem is that with this heatwave the BBC and ITV news channels (and probably some of the others ) are banging away at the climate change issue, as if the UK is a major contributor to global warming, the only country that can do anything about it (no mention of China) and as if this weather is going to carry on for ever. I watched Farage's channel last night for once, and he said that over the years when he was based in Strasbourg he got used to regular heatwaves, and they coped over there. I would never knock the wearing quality of SHOE's products. Three years ago it was my day off, I was out in the country away from home, and of course I was wearing brown shoes. I was called into work, an emergency, get there ASAP. Emergency or no, it wouldn't have done to have gone into work wearing brown shoes ("no brown in town and in the country, not after six."), the most convenient footware establishment was a Shoezone with ample parking, so in I went. I thought I would just use those black shoes for a day and then put them into the reserves, but they are comfortable and non-sweaty and I have worn them to work ever since, and they have hardly shown any wear. In the nearby city there are large families where the shoes just get passed down when they are grown out of, so they only need a pair every six months. And some adult males there, if they see signs of wear coming, just extend their stride to put off replacement day.

The problem is, what with accumulated savings and furlough pay, people have too much money, and they are aiming higher than the SHOE ranges. No doubt Northamptonshire is a boom area, and Church'sand Barker 's order books are full. However it won't last, the savings will be blown and the bill for furlough will come in, and the country will be on the wrong foot, and SHOE will be on the right one.

Fallingknife, if your wife has no confidence in SHOE's, she should write to Walkley Clogs at Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, and ask for their clog catalogue. Then she has some substantial footwear to kick you with if SHOE serves us the same as RBG has just served myself and others.
