Agreed Anacott - we may see an engineered drop like we did a few trading days ago as shorts escape, followed by then rise again. any drop represents a buying opp for LTH.

I m not sure anyone is in disagreement with how shorts make money in general, the point specific to the daily mail article is that what is reports as facts do not seem to stack up, and given some peoples view of possible negative media bias over the last few months, people are questioning the motives behind this article, esp as Thg shares on loan in November was 7.85%, so if it was 4% in dec, this is a reduction which also coincides with the Thg share price increase

Accordingly to euroclear, tbh shares on loan end of November was 7.85%, so if they are low at 4%, number has halved (explaining 1/ the share price 2/ the utter crap written by this dippy journo) - my bet is they will continue to drop in the build up to results

My thoughts exactly Sole - the fact the shorts are getting their friends in the media to rerun (dubious) old news shows the desperation, a short squeeze is inevitable (MM should do them over with a good news ingenuity RNS on Monday)

The Uk press can often be seen as a self serving, bias and unreliable.
If shorters do have 4% of shares on loan (which I doubt given some of the loan UT buys last week), if thg gives any unexpected and good rns in the next 10 trading days or the q4 update is well structured with lots of info on ingenuity, they will burn.
And remember, once one closes, it puts pressure on them all to close- their is no loyalty among these rats

Agreed Trojan - in hindsight we got a flavour of this on Christmas Eve, but yesterday and today is a full on attack. I ve loaded up a bit but am now certain this is either going private or resisted in USA . The city of London is either just banks, insurance or a graveyard of ideas

Just watching this action, I think it becomes highly likely MM will look to take THG private again… esp if he does not need the investment as cash to run the business (which is what they alluded to in q3 earnings call when they talked about ingenuity becoming self sufficient)

Tii on tally agree with you Anacot - it’s simply pure market manipulation in my opinion. Now the share price has been pummeled, all of a sudden, the press become positive again, the shorts sell off and go long and it goes back up. Otherwise the bottomless money puts that private equity (esp from the US) have will be used to take private with MM and friends. Either way, next 2 or so trading weeks should see positive momentum up to and after results IMO GLA long holders

That’s exactly my take on it smiling. Based on this, it seems the risk reward ratio is very favourable to reward. Great to see more and more articles rating the share as very cheap, with bank of America making this very explicit in their latest report
