The 20 megawatt (MW) facility will provide power to the national grid at times of a shortfall in capacity. It is one of nine sites held in partnership with Rockpool Investments, which has provided EIS funding for their development. PPG is planning to develop 200MW of capacity by the end of 2017 and has a pipeline of potential development sites with 700MW of power generation capacity having secured planning permission of seven sites. Charles Tatnall, chairman of PPG, said: "This is a landmark event for PPG. Now that our first flexible energy facility is operational, we look forward to increasing our sales substantially as we tap into the multiple revenue streams available to us over the coming months. "These opportunities exist because National Grid and the Big Six are in need of a consistent source of power which blends with the intermittent supply currently being delivered by renewables."

Plutus PowerGen plc | Annual Report & Accounts 2016 17 Strategic priority Progress Bring online standalone FlexGen sites – Nine Rockpool-funded investee company sites – One majority-owned (non-EIS) PPG site under development – Three further sites that can be majority owned The facility in Plymouth is scheduled to be online by this winter. 12 sites (equivalent to 240MW) have committed and viable offers of Grid connection, of which 5 (100MW) have planning permission and 1 (20MW) expects permission shortly. The balance of sites with connections are in various stages of pre-planning. One majority owned subsidiary of PPG is at an advanced stage of development, and our objective is to develop an additional 4 such sites per year of which we have visibility of at least three.

Reliance Energy: we have a formal partnership with Reliance Energy to share solar generation sites (SolarFlex), and to raise funds. When procured, each project will be developed by Reliance Energy, and constructed and managed by PPG in return for a management fee. The equity in each project will be split 70:30, with the majority interest granted to the party that successfully introduces the site.

From 2016 Annual Report OUR PIPELINE PPG has a pipeline of project sites, which could be capable of generating over 500MW, with committed connection offers for more than 260MW, equivalent to thirteen 20MW sites. Through a partnership with Reliance Energy Limited, PPG also has access to a potential 300MW of connections to be shared with solar farms under PPG’s SolarFlex business model. OUR PRINCIPAL SOURCES OF REVENUE PPG plans to generate revenues from energy suppliers and National Grid via four principal mechanisms – FFR, STOR, Triad and Power Purchase Agreements – details of which are provided on page 16. We have been awarded 15-year Capacity Market contracts, from which PPG will earn revenues from 2019. In addition, the Company has existing management contracts with nine companies in which it holds a 45% interest. Under the terms of these contracts PPG is paid an annual management fee of £150,000 by each company.
