26p will have been the maximum any entity big enough to buy solgold will have suggested paying for it. Buying shares at a higher price will bring perceived risk, so buyers may use that as a safety ceiling rather than a net. Keep your average below the known offer price etc.

I know the fantasy yacht league are already clear of the 30s in their heads, but has there been proper consideration of the order of events if/when a revised offer doesn't come in? The most likely first bidder will have shown their hand and valued the company for TO at 26p... Other potential investors will have a clear idea of the holdings or others and might be assured there are currently no threatening blocks. Those who speculated on a bidding war take their profits and leave... And 26p suddenly becomes a ceiling, not a floor?
