i hope that woodford will have nothing at all to do with most of the cr*p that gets floated on aim. i don't think he's the kind of guy to mop up bucket-shop placings of any old pharma/bio junk just for a 10-20% turn, he will be pretty selective. hopefully, he will intercept some of the best stuff to fund it directly before they even have to come begging to AIM.

i agree, seems very plausible to me. woodford wasn't just waiting until he got the money in to start making his acquisitions; he will have been doing deals in advance all over the place, but as much under the radar as his team can manage. .. & his team are very good.

"Woodford Investment Management LLP ("Woodford"), as agent for the CF Woodford Equity Income Fund and other clients" ... leaves it unclear, actually, since the identity of the 'other clients' is not specified. woodford has said, very understandably, that wpct will try to keep much of its stake-building quiet as possible in these early days.

anyway, I'm in for a good size piece from the IPO, with 5-10 year view. suspect this will be a relatively peaceful bulletin board tho', more about glacial movements rather than jack in the box stuff. see you all (most?) in a few years time, lol. atb.

hi tth, - assuming you mean the woodford ipo thing i mentioned on weds? ... just be aware, woodford issued a supplementary prospectus **yesterday** changing the terms of the ipo somewhat; essentially, because the demand so far has been very very high, they are significantly increasing the ipo size, issuing extra shares .... this means on the one hand, (a) anyone applying is likely to get a better allocation, BUT (b) because more shares are available, the short-term price spike, if any, is likely to be smaller. -- so *if* it goes well, then would be smaller % gain, but on larger stake. i expect you're probably well aware of that already, but just thought i should give heads up in case you're not. NB because they've changed the terms of the ipo, they've extended deadline for few days, to give people chances to change their minds to make order size bigger /smaller / withdraw /join in. gl. offer price partially dependent on rdsb sp & investec have issued small downgrade to 1900. me, i like the deal on an l/t view, and i've switched some of the v nice money made from my long bg into rdsb itself, but i can see that there are a fair few folk arguing that shell may have overpaid for bg. we will see. i'd be surprised to see counter-offer for bg, think perhaps more likely BP gets a knock on the door, but i'm not in that one yet.

(i know this is very off-topic for bg, but if you are just looking for a short-term punt with a little money from the BG rise, there are still a few days for the woodford patient capital investment trust ipo, it closes on monday i think? ... it's possible it might be worth stagging it, as IT not UT and probably pretty oversubscribed, but dyor, no advice intended of course.)

sure, i have no real idea at all what it might do s/term, so much to guess at re PoO and current geopolitics. me, i've taken on chunks of RDSB today with a long term view, not for short-term trading. i think the deal with BG is very potentially synergistic, gives additional LNG exposure, more scope for production cost cuts, and significantly lowers anticipated exploration costs, so on a 2-3+ basis should show nice returns. can't resist that excellent underpinning divi too meanwhile. but quite understand, from a trading perspective, i have no real view on shell at all. gl with the winnings, you timed your morning exit really well!

yes, BoD would be obliged to do so. if shell sp fell much more, can imagine that major ii shareholders in BG might grumble and try to argue for improved shell offer with more cash, or hold for counter-bid. however, personally i think not so likely to happen; the bg bod must surely have taken some good prelim soundings with their major ii holders before agreeing to recommend the bid from shell? (.. but then, what do us mushrooms ever really know?)

maybe buy shell instead at this price? sector suffering a bit from moody's commentary.
