Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Grayling has been on about hydrogen trains for a while... Let's hope it becomes reality. And let's hope ITM is part of that reality.
A few months old, but a good little article. Covered in a few places on the Web. Looking to allow 24hr FCEV participants in the Le Man's race from 2024 after the lead car FCEV demo this year. https://www.fiawec.com/en/news/hydrogen-on-track-with-mission-h24/6094
Great link Harry. While it is not a purist approach, the hydrogen dual fuel solution will IMO certainly help drive the mass adoption of hydrogen in this industry. Great to see how it develops.
I guess the London ones will use ITM to refuel? https://www.electrive.com/2018/11/01/wrightbus-presents-double-decker-fc-bus/

About time... No doubt this will give a boost to the industry. This country has been relying on gas imports for way too long!
Could have included a few other things like status of the Hydrogen for Transport Programme and also our HRS in Gatwick, etc. All in all, a reasonably positive update though. Hopefully some light at the end of the tunnel and a step closer to becoming profitable.
From what I've seen, ITM certainly are recruiting for a fair few roles at the moment... Time to start delivering the jam ;-)
Brilliant Harry. The more of us who responded to things like this, the better. Is there anything in particular going on in Sheffield? More than happy to write in.
Likely to be sourced through their partnership with Gasunie I guess...
Upper end of our range. I don't think we've supplied the other Akzo unit... https://www.thechemicalengineer.com/news/amsterdam-considers-green-electrolysis-plant/
It is the thread I started on Thursday... I've filled in the survey saying they need to build HRS and invest in hydrogen public transport http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/bath-breathes-2021-overview/have-your-say
Both BEV and FCEV have their places in the future. IMO it is not an either/or decision. BEV will be suited to the small local trips... FCEV to the long distance, haulage and 'fixed route' transport (buses, trains, taxis, emergency services)
I don't believe my eyes... The BBC talking about hydrogen vehicles... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40726868
The encouraging part is fcevs are mentioned in the Bath survey...
Hi Harry. Whenever something pops, I write or text in. This week alone I've filled in the Bath survey and texted into the BBC Somerset radio debate. Unfortunately engagement with my local MP has fallen on deaf ears, but I've still tried. If there is an opportunity, I'm happy to get involved. The more of us who do it and flag various projects, the more exposure the industry will get. Simplest ;-)
Re Cargo Ships - I'd do some reading on the Surf n Turf Project... Small steps.
Hydrocarbons are not going to disappear in the next decade or two, but the world is changing. At some point in my lifetime, I'm sure there will be a "plastic straw" moment. Low cost green vehicles and adequate infrastructure is what is needed to unlock it.
BBC Somerset mentioned that there were something like 65 councils / cities that are looking at clean air zones... So following the likes of Bath. If every single one put in a single HRS, combined with our existing stations, the HTP Phase 1 stations and the additional 10 stations that are being brought in by HTP Phase 2, you are quickly knocking on 100 HRS in the country. Not a huge amount by any stretch, but certainly not a bad network.
The government were talking (at one point) about developing the M4 as a hydrogen corridor. Installation of an HRS in Bath would seem to be an obvious step. With our new station in Swindon, our competitor (McPhy) in Abergavenny, etc this IMHO is the next logical step.
I'm sure most of you have heard yesterday that Bath are looking to bring a 9 quid a day charge for cars (100 quid per day for trucks) in their proposed clean air zone (CAZ).... Here is our opportunity to have our say and tell the City of Bath that they should be building hydrogen refuelling stations (citing the Birmingham Bus Project and the many other ITM projects as good examples)... http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/bath-breathes-2021-overview/have-your-say
I see quite a few rolls are being advertised to join the team at ITM... I wonder what is in the pipeline, if they are looking to expand the team. Doesn't look like backfilling to me.
