Gas and Condensate Discovery at Falcon-1

The company has identified multiple prospect within the Champion Project area, all of which are based upon Baja's analysis of 3D seismic data.

The Falcon-1 prospect was selected as the first drilling project in the Champion Project Area.

Drilling operations on the Falcon-1 well in the Champion Project Area were completed in October 2020. The Falcon-1 well encountered the primary and secondary reservoir objectives as predicted pre-drill, and production casing has been run.

Production testing operations have now been completed, with the well proving capable of delivering commercially viable volumes of natural gas and condensate.

We are now proceeding with tie-in operations, making use of the existing and adjacent offtake infrastructure.

We expect oil and gas sales to commence by the end of November 2020

4 Consecutive Oil & Gas Discoveries Drilled by Baja in the Stanley Project Area

The Stanley-1, Stanley-2, Stanley-3, and Stanley-4 wells have been turned over to production operations.
The Stanley-1 well was drilled in July 2018, As predicted pre-drill, multiple potentially productive hydrocarbon zones were identified within the well-bore. . We are now preparing to install artificial lift (a Sucker Rod Pump or "SRP") in order to extend the production life of the currently producing reservoir. Installation of artificial lift is a standard operation in the life cycle of oil wells in this, and most other, areas.

The Stanley-2 well was drilled in March 2019, and encountered multiple potential oil and gas bearing reservoirs. The well is flowing oil into the production facilities, and we are preparing to install artificial lift (SRP) on the well in order to extend the production life of the currently producing reservoir.

Stanley-3 was the next well drilled in the project area, in August 2019. Stanley-3 has now been completed as an oil well and has been turned over to production and is currently flowing oil into the production facilities.

The Stanley-4 well was drilled to the planned total depth in September 2020. The well has been completed as an oil producer and has been turned over to production. An additional tank battery was installed in order to handle the production from Stanley-4, and the well is currently flowing oil into the new production facilities.

Baja has drilled four consecutive and commercial oil and gas discoveries in the Stanley project area, since commencing the drilling program with Stanley-1.

Once flow testing is completed and data analysed, the next step is to tie the well into a nearby separator and existing pipelines which is expected to take a few weeks. Following this production will commence and gas and condensate will be sold. The production rate will be determined after analysis of the flow testing data.

The success at Falcon-1 reinforces the investment in this Champion Project which also includes other prospects identified using 3D seismic. Once Falcon-1 is on production, the next target well is the Galaxie-1 well, where there are already access roads and a drill pad

In the current paper, fundamental aspects of wax deposition problems in pipeline are defined, and characterization of paraffin and their solubility tendencies have been discussed. Wax deposition depends on flow rate, the temperature differential between crude and pipe surface, the cooling rate, and surface properties. The physico-chemical characterization of crude oil is determined. The experiments were carried out in “Cold Finger Apparatus.” Best pour point depressant for the selected crude oil has been found out as Lubrizol-6682 among different chemicals available that reduces the pour point from 36° to 12°. The deposition of paraffin wax, its dispersion, and inhibition were studied with available chemicals and by the optimization of suitable additives for particular well. Kinetics of crude oil in terms of time and differential temperature has also been studied and effective dispersion times are observed for particular oil. It is found that dispersion is effective within 30–60 min of starting. Kinetic study of oil with respect to differential temperature is done in two ways either by varying ambient/surface temperature or pumping/reservoir temperature. The tendencies of wax deposition on different sample with neat and treated crude are observed and ideal differential temperature for particular oil to flow is determined.
