'The preliminary stages of the lithium heap leaching JV with Alexander's Principal Technological Consultant, Dr. Nicholas Welham, have shown promising results. Consequently, it has been agreed that a further larger scale batch of testwork is required in order to generate sufficient data to allow the process to be audited by Wardell Armstrong International. The work will be undertaken at a higher education establishment in Perth, Western Australia under Dr. Welham's supervision, with all materials being analysed at a local laboratory. The final round of work, which is scheduled to start in early January, is expected to take around three months.'

Late in 1993, Dr. Welham moved to Perth, Australia to became the first overseas appointment to the A. J. Parker Cooperative Research Centre for Hydrometallurgy.

'Parker Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Integrated Hydrometallurgy Solutions took over from the AJ Parker CRC for Hydrometallurgy in 2005 following a seven year CRC grant. The Centre's research spans two broad areas: Breakthrough Technologies and Process Fundamentals. ....'The Process Fundamentals work is directed at achieving the fundamental understanding of the science behind current extraction processes that is needed to optimise existing hydrometallurgical plants, for example by increasing efficiency and yield, improving product quality and minimising operating costs. The Breakthrough Technologies research aims to develop innovative processing technologies to exploit low-grade ores or currently uneconomic, untapped mineral deposits.'
Hopefully....won't be too long before results are audited by WA
