RE: Holding Irish shares new rules16 Feb 2021 12:33
I hold EQT shares with iDealing and they advised the following today:
"This is being looked into by iDealing's corporate actions team.
We believe - at present - that the ordinary shares will be able to be converted into Crest Depository Interests "CDIs" - and that they will be able to be retained in Crest - the UK's central custodian where iDealing holds its clients stocks.
The CDI's will carry the same rights to the shares as the existing ordinary shares.
In effect therefore - there should be no change to your holding from the proposed move of the underlying securities to Euroclear Brussels.
I - or iDealing's corporate actions team - will e-mail you again when we receive confirmation of the above."
So, it looks like iDealing will continue to support EQT through provision of CDIs but it is still subject to confirmation from Crest/Euroclear. I hold significant amount in both ISA and trading acct and don't really want move the accounts to different broker unless I have to, so if anybody gets a different/contrary information from iDealing, could you please post it here? Also, I don't have experience with CDIs so if any of you more knowledgeable people know of any undesirable consequences of holding EQT shares through these, please post it here too. Thank you very much!
