Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
If you're under 50 with no under lying health conditions then it's not really anything to worry about. I caught it at work last year and it was the equivalent of a heavy cold. Once all vulnerable people and the elderly are completely vaccinated the deaths will be next to none (we are almost at this stage already). If no one is dying from it then it's not really a problem big enough to close off the travel industry.
Saying you don't want other people to travel because you can't is like saying you don't want anyone to be freed from Auschwitz because you have to stay.
I'm 29 and I have the opposite opinion. If older people have had 2 shots and are allowed to travel earlier then good for them and good for the economy.
Marab you're either trolling or you're mentally challenged so I'm not going to bother trying to discuss this with you.
I'm keen to discuss the future of this company on here with people as a chance to learn something new but going on about how there's only 5 mill vaccinated and how countries being added to red lists right now makes absolutely no sense when we are looking at how the world will be in 2 to 3 months. Your comments are the equivalent of farting on your keyboard.
Of course you would be willing to go. If you have had 2 jabs you're between 90-100% protected from the virus.. thats the whole point of the jab. You'd have more chance of getting molested by a turtle than getting the virus.
Youre asking question that no one can know the answer to until the announcement so I'm confused with what you expect from that.
As far as the 2nd jab goes I just laid out the basic maths above and in fact there will be roughly 23 million by the start of July (30 Mill by August) at current rate. I think thats enough to fill a seat or two.
Yes only 5 million people can travel as of today... no one is expecting travel to resume today so I don't understand your point. In 2/3 months time when travel will realistically have a chance of resuming it'll be a lot more.
E.g
Currently giving 200000 second doses a day on average and 5 million already had both doses.
200000 2nd doses x 90 days = 18000000
18000000 + 5000000 (already vacc) = 23000000
On top of that there is a chance 1 dose would be accepted or even just a negative test will suffice.. as it stands we don't know.
Things are looking a lot better than you doom and gloomers are making it out to be.
The UK also managed to go from 60000 cases a day to 5000 in winter when viruses have a far greater effect. I would be surprised if the European countries are hit as hard with better weather starting on top of vaccinations/lockdowns.
We don't know for sure what will happen during the summer yet. We won't know until the announcement on either the 5th or 12th of April. All we know is that the Government is looking into the traffic light system which would still allow a decent amount of travel to take place.
All of the UK will be vaccinated by the summer (that want to be vaccinated) and the lagging countries will start catching up in the months building up to summer. Summer is still 3 months away, there is plenty of time for countries to get their act together - the UK went from a major peak in Jan to the low levels we are seeing now in March. Even the European countries that are peaking in cases now will probably have settled by summer time with Lockdowns/vaccinations taking place. I can't see why there won't be travel allowed.
The only thing I can see that will cause a major setback is a freak variant that requires new vaccines to control which is a risk that we all need to accept is always there.
