RE: Rare Earth Minerals4 Sep 2010 15:03
vonny,
I've been on the hunt for REE (rare earth elements) miners since the start of this year, having read lots of things about the supply and demand of these minerals. China cut their export quota for the 2nd half of the year, and REE prices have soared in line. Haven't found any LSE listed REE miners yet, but Red Rock Resources (LSE.RRR) have some exposure through their shareholding in another company.
Always happy to chat about this sector, as I think this is where the money will be over the next few years.
My REE portfolio, (I also have a watchlist of others, feel free to ask) is this: Greenland Minerals and Energy (ASX.GGG), Avalon Rare Metals Inc (TSX.AVL), Lynas Corporation (ASX.LYC), Ucore Rare Metals Inc (TSX.UCU), Rare Element Resources LTD (TSX.RES), Artemis Resources Ltd (ASX.ARV), Quest Rare Minerals (TSX.QRM), Great Western Minerals Group (ASX.GWG), Commerce Resources Corp (TSX.CCE)and Tantalus Rare Earths AG (XETRA.TAE)
All of them are small companies except for Tantalus and Lynas and, imo, all of the potential to be multi-baggers. The ones with the most short-term upside, again in my opinon, are Commerce Resources and Tantalus, both of whom are drilling at the moment i believe.
The other one is Greenland Minderals and Energy- trading on their stocks have been suspended for three weeks waiting for an announcement from the Greenland government as to whether or not they will change their no-uranium policy to allow a 0.1% byproduct from mining. This would make their project, rumoured to be the largest deposit in the world, economically viable. However we were due an announcement 2 weeks ago and it hasnt come, so am a bit concerned there.
Overall my REE portfolio is up approx 20%, and personally I will be holding for quite a while (at least 2 years), as I said before I think all of these have massive upside potential, but I am only young and currently work full-time in public service so mining is not my area and I do not have that much time to research into it...so please dyor. would be happy to chat more about this with anyone though.
